- i. To advance art and to advance education in the works of WB Yeats and the history and heritage of Bedford Park for the benefit of the public by the provision of a public artwork in commemoration of the life and works of the Nobel-prizewinning Irish poet and dramatist WB Yeats. 

- ii. To promote the enhancement and improvement of the area of Bedford Park for the public benefit by the provision of a public artwork.

The main activity to be undertaken for public benefit is the provision of the artwork as set out in the organisation’s objects and the provision, medium term and longer-term, of publicity and educational information associated with the artwork about WB Yeats and the history and heritage of Bedford Park. The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. 

The advancement of education has been significantly developed in the year 2021-2022 and ongoing.

Section D                      Achievements and performance 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

**Phase#2 Fundraising:** the charity, with the help of Spacehive fundraising platform achieved target funds by 31/07/2021 to enable commissioning of the proposed artwork, #EnwroughtLight, from leading sculptor Conrad Shawcross. 

Key donors included the Sir George Frampton Fund (Royal Academy), Embassy of Ireland, London Borough of Hounslow, The Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation, Dukes Education and individuals including Jimmy Page. 

Further commitments were made to Wootton Dawe and Freud to carry out ground work, creation of hexagonal plinth in Purbeck stone and engraving of the Yeats poem which inspired the artwork, in silver lettering. Some costs were involved in obtaining planning permission for non-material changes. 

**Phase#2 Progress:** work in progress on all fronts with a view to unveiling artwork and plinth on Tue 6[th] September 2022. 

**Phase#3 Fundraising:** the arts/educ/heritage visitor-experience wraparound will consist of a public lecture, a reception for dignitaries and community groups at the unveiling, information signage by the artwork itself, school workbooks for 9-11 year olds and key-stage-3 students, a smartphone webpage tour with directions, information, Yeats poetry readings etc and a promotional video to b ring the local community and international visitors to the artwork and the Yeats Bedford Park trail. 

Fundraising was launched in December 2021 and completed in  March 2022 with key donors including the London Borough of Ealing and the Bedford Park Society. 

**Phase#3 Progress:** public lecture completed, April 2022, work in progress on other fronts in hand with a view to releasing school workbooks etc before artwork unveiling date to involve local schools in the event, and to launching the smartphone trail and promo-video in winter 2022/2023.

With a commitment from the local church to host the web-based smartphone application in perpetuity along with the charity’s in fo webpages and from  London Borough of Hounslow to maintain and insure the artwork the charity will have no need of reserves after completion of Phase#2 and Phase#3 in winter 2022/2023.
