## **Our Charitable Objectives**
To promote the arts, particularly the visual arts, by the provision of studio and gallery space for those who would not otherwise have access to such facilities and services.
To advance the education of the public in the appreciation and practice of the arts in the district of Craven in North Yorkshire and adjacent areas.

## **Providing space for creative people to grow**
## **Building Renovation**
In 2024/2025 we received funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) via North Yorkshire Council for building renovation. The grant enabled roof repairs, the development of two new artist studios and an office for staff. Additional work at Craven Arts House has included cleaning the floor in the Clubroom to provide an additional creative workshop/exhibition space.
Craven Arts now provides space for eleven professional artists to create and grow their businesses. Seven artists are based at Craven Arts House and four at our Otley Street Studios. In 2024/2025 we had a membership of 108 visual artists, and we supported their development through exhibitions, networking events and professional development workshops.
## **Partners who rent and hire space**
Craven Academy of Modern Music work from the Music Rooms at Craven Arts House providing music education to children, young people and adults. Skipton Civic Society continue their historical research and provide public heritage talks.
We worked with the following organisations during 2024/25 providing space for cultural activity, SELFA (Skipton’s Children’s Charity) Circus Skills, Yorkshire Cancer Support, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, Upper Wharfedale Heritage Group, Craven Crafters (an NHS Wellbeing group), Skipton Musical Theatre Society, Craven College.
## **Peter Sowerby Grant – Executive Lead**
A grant from the Peter Sowerby Foundation enabled Craven Arts to employ staff for the first time. A new Executive Lead was engaged in September 2024. The Executive Lead and Trustees developed a two-year Strategic Plan, giving the charity, clarity of purpose and direction.

## **Courses and Workshops**
In 2024/2025 we programmed 50 courses and workshops. With 338 people booking onto a course. We aim to engage are whole community, children, young people and adults across a range of visual, performance, heritage, cultural activities. Providing access to arts and culture to all for the benefit of our health and well-being.

## **We provide cultural learning opportunities for all**
Our cultural learning programme includes a particular emphasis on young people and supporting the next generation of creative professional. Working with 10 emerging music producers and performers the Music Room Project offered an opportunity to develop skills, a network of musical peers and time to consider careers in the music industry
Across our Saturday Art Course and Music projects, 85 workshop places were booked by children and young people — some attending multiple sessions.

## **We are a place for our community to connect**
We hosted a range of projects, exhibitions and events which were produced, curated and created by the Craven creative community. Offering both amateur and professional creative people the opportunity to share talent, skill and their creativity. Building a happy, healthy place-based community.
## **Monday is for Members**
Our informal Monday morning gatherings offer Craven Arts members a welcoming space to connect, share ideas, and start the week with inspiration. They help break the isolation of studio practice and encourage local engagement through lively discussion, artistic exchange, and updates on arts events and opportunities.
## **11 Exhibitions**
In 2024/2025 we curated 11 exhibitions including the Spring Exhibition with North Yorkshire Open Studios, our most ambitious exhibition with over 200 works by artists from across North Yorkshire.
## **Events**
2 Makers Markets were held in August and December. Spoken word events Verse and Voice took place as well as music nights with performances from professional and amateur performers.
## **Visitors**
In 2024/2025 we welcomed 9,225 visitors to Craven Arts House.
This number is from visitors to the building (signing in) visitors visiting exhibition (tally charts), audience attending events, participants in activity through external hires.

Ireport to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 March 2025.
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the **Responsibilities and basis of report** accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have

## **Restricted activities**
Restricted activities relate to restricted grants received from partner organisations together with the relate expenditure against these grants during the year. In the current year, Craven Arts delivered activities with the support of the following funders:
Yorkshire Dales Milenium Trust
- Two Ridings Peter Sowerby Foundation NorthYorkshire Council National Lottery Community Fund UK SPF Beyondly
At 31 March 2025 the following grants totalling £10,100 remain unspent. These are held in restricted funds for use in the next financial year:
Peter Sowerby Foundation (£8,100) relating to funding for future salary costs for the Director of Craven Arts
Beyondly (£2,000) relating to funding for the Make More Music project.
Both grants will be utilised in the next financial year.
## **Income from sales of members work**
Earned income from courses and sales includes income from the sale of work during exhbitions and is shown net of payments to artists.
