Activities
Conwy Connect for Learning Disabilities was set up in 1997 to help promote the rights of people with a learning disability living within the County of Conwy and in North Wales. Its aims include ensuring people have equality of choice and opportunity in the community they live in.
Objects: The Relief Of Persons With Learning Disabilities In North Wales Particularly By The Provision Of Practical Help, Advice, Assistance, Support, Advocacy And Information To Them Their Families And Carers Anda) To Enable People Who Have Learning Disabilities, Their Parents And Carers To Access Information For The Best Care, Accommodation, Education, Occupation, Employment And Leisure Suited To Their Needs And Choices Ensuring A Good Quality Of Life.b) To Establish And Maintain Close Co-Operation Between All Local Voluntary And Statutory Bodies And Individuals With An Interest In, And Concern For, People Who Have Learning Disabilities.c) To Offer Members The Opportunity To Meet Others In Order To Promote Co-Operation Between Parents, Guardians, Relatives, Interested Individuals And Friends Of People Who Have Learning Disabilities And Those Entrusted With Their Care.d) To Encourage And Support Any Form Of Enterprise Or Service Which May Be Decided To Be In The Best Interests Of People From North Wales Who Have Learning Disabilities.e) To Increase Public Awareness Of The Work Carried Out By The CIO In Relation To People With Learning Disabilities And Their Families, Encouraging Greater Public Acceptance And Enabling People With Learning Disabilities To Take Their Rightful Place In The Community.f) To Keep All Members Regularly Informed Of The Activities Within The CIO And Any Relevant Changes To Current Services And Facilities.g) To Lobby And Campaign At National Level When Appropriate.
