Airport Chaplainc)
The East Nqidlands Airport Chaplaiiic!. Team had some sionificanl events in 2024.
In JanuaTh'. the!. marked the 2)th annii'ersarN of the foundiiigy of ihe chaplaincy with a celebration
in Ihe check-in hall. li ilas attended b! ihe airport's Managing Direclor and lh¢ Lord Lieutenant
of Leicesiershire, IK'iih iiiusic bi lh¢ DL Montford Unii'ersil). GospLI Choir.
In August. Ihe) conducted the ofFicial
opening of the Multi-Faith Pra)'¢r Room in
the departures area. in partnership ii'ith

and Muslim
chaplains

Manchester Airport. The leam had ivorked
with airport mana2ement to desilyn ihe room.

Ihe check-in area.
In Noi'ember. the team took part in the airport"s emergvencv exercise. Chaplains ￿'Cre preseiited

crash. and their anxious friends and relalii es.
Alongside all ihis was the regular work of supporting the ￿le11-beIng of slaff and passeng)crs,
aiming io "help. support and guide"
Schools Chaplaincy:

A visit was made by the Sheriff of Derbyshire
to one of the schools that have a Chaplain. In
the conversation about the role as Education
Chaplain a number of aspects were discussed
including the enjoyment of being regularly
present each week, being flexible to join in
with activities of the day and having pastoral
care for a variety of ages.

Training and Safeguarding
All Chaplains and Trustees hai'e DBS clearance to iiork i%'iih Chaplainc), Derb)wshire (see
Structure, Goi'ernance and Management below) and access lo a Safeguarding oificer.
Durino 2024-25 ihere was a specialist training session in January on safeguarding provided by
ThirtyOne-Eight that il'as ￿'ClI recei￿.ed b), Ihe chaplains.
Training remains an important aspect of Chaplaincy Derbyshire activities including the
introduction and training of new Chaplains with a monitoring period where the new Chaplain works
alongside an experienced Chaplain.
An in-house training da), informed ihe Chaplains aboul the slructure of Chaplainc!. Derblwshire.
a￿'allable communication options. policies and procedures and access to the on-line Churchsuite
racilily.

Chaplaincy Derbj'shire will conlinue lo monitor and reviem, ils structure. procedures and policies.
The ecumenical partnerships will continue to be encouraged and strengthened along with
recruitment of volunteer chaplains for all sectors. Opportunities for financial support will continue to
be reviewed for all sectors with grant applications made as appropriate.

Chaplaincy Derbyshire lunds are used solely for operational Cosis to support ihe Chaplaincy
Service (provision of training, expenses of 0￿]Ce. unifomis. publ icily adminislration and travel
costs). Regular annual income comes from a contract held wilh Derbj'shire Community
Healihcare Sernwices NHS Foundation Trust for provision ofchaplaincy Services to paticnts in the
cominuniti. and a conlraci held ii'iih Ere￿ash Primar), Care Network for provision of Chaplaincy
Sen'ices lo their GP Surgycries.
Sig)nificant grant support is also receii'ed from a number of orgFanisalions including the
Lauderdale Trust for Rural Chaplaincj. and associaled churches.
We receive pai'meni from the Diocese of South￿'clI and Notlingham ￿,hen iheir chaplains attend
our Chaplainc}' Training Dal's and occasional donations from individuals and a conlribuiion from
Ihe Diocese of. Derby.
There was one paid Chaplain in ihe N'ear: the Lead Chaplain for Rural Chaplainc!,. All oiher
chaplains are Tr'oluiiieers. There is no charg?c for ihe Chaplainc J Service. ￿'1th the ¢xcepiion of the
contract ouilined above.
Durino the Vear 3 part-lime paid posts ￿ere filled io ￿'ork on the dei'elopmenl of Health Care
chaplainc!.. Ihe slructure of ihe organisation along ivith managemenl and communication fac i lilies
and an administrator for the Rural Chaplaincs,.
Chaplaincy Derbyshire sub-conlracls pa}'roll and pension managemenl. A safeguardingy O￿l¢Cr is
also contracled.
At 31 st March 2025 ihe balance of funds M'as £107416 with £21769 of inveslments- see separatc
Financial Siatemeni. Church Board of Finance ccla investment funds of £21765 held b) Ihe
Church of England for Workplace Chaplaincy in Derbyshire (no￿, part of Chaplainc), DerbyshirL)
were transferred to Chaplaincy Derbyshire in Sepiember and October. A sum of £20:000 was
subsequenilv put into a reserve fund accouni.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Gov'erning Document
The governing documeni ol" the CIO is a Constilulion ￿,hICh was accepied in June 2017. In
accordance wilh thai document, new trustees are appointed by the existing irusiees.
A more fomal struciure has been implemented as ihe work of the CIO has expanded aiid ihere is
now an Operations Team thal manages ihe more day-to-day needs. The Irusiees meet six limes a
year lo transact the business of the CIO. There is also coniact belween Iruslees by email. Four of
the Trustees are actively involved as a serving Chaplain.

Trustee selection methods
A skills audil has been undertaken lo disco￿.er ihose skills which are required by the trustee body.
Efforts are made lo recruit Iruslees who meet the skills requirement and include represeniatives
from ditTerent denominations.
Risk management polic!.
The trustees examine the major risks ihat ihe charil!. faces each financial >'ear ii'hen preparing and
updatin2 the straie?ic plan. The charili. has dei'eloped sl'sleins to monitor and control these risks
