**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**
The charity’s objects are to further or benefit the residents of the Greatwood and Horseclose estates of Skipton and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by association together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents. In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power to establish or

secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with a statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects. The hall provides premises for several social groups such as “knit and natter” and karate. A women’s group was formed with consultation from residents to engage hard to reach, isolated women and encouraged social support. Workshops were provided aimed at improving mental, social and emotional wellbeing, focusing on loss, change, anger, resilience, low mood, anxiety, confidence and self-worth. ## Section D Achievements and performance
The Residents group hosted a Summer Community Event on 8[th] August **Summary of the main** 25 which included charity stalls, Free craft activities and a bouncy castle **achievements of the charity** for families to enjoy and refreshments and food at low cost. **during the year** The Association also wanted to Achievements of local resident Jean Elliott (nee Breckon) who played for England Ladies in 1971 and is known as one of the Lost Lionesses, so the Residents Association had a silver plate engraved which was presented to her at the Skipton Town Council – Christmas Light Switch on. As the community are in the top 20% of health deprivation a workshop was set up to help encourage residents to cook from scratch to improve their health outcomes. This ran for a couple of sessions and attended by 8-10 people. Christmas Family event ran on 29[th] November with traditional Santas grotto, charity stalls and festive refreshments and face painting and crafts for families. The Residents Association always try to keep the costs low so families can come along and socialise with neighbours without it being unaffordable. Friends of GW&HC was launched early 2026 an online group to reach out to try get more volunteers who don’t necessarily want to be a trustee but want to get involved and give input into their community. A brief form needs to be filled in to join so we can generate a database to eventually send out a e newsletter and txt message when events are coming up. AGM was held on 26[th] March 26 and three new members signed up and others who are going to join the Friends of GW&H C . Easter Event on 28[th] March where the standard stall and family crafts and refreshments went ahead the event was used to officially launch the friends of GW&HC and photos were displayed from the last 20 yrs from past events at the Community Centre. Also, a company called Diggis Den came along with bunny’s and guinea pigs for families to brush and cuddle the company have visited the events in the past and the children really enjoy sitting holding and feeding the animals.

Overall, it’s been a great year, and the community events get lots of family’s in and great feedback. Will still need to recruit for volunteers but the additional three is a great start
