Ob"ectives and activities
The charity's objects are to further or benefit the residents of the
Greatwood and Horseclose estates of Skipton and the neighbourhood,
without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious
or other opinions by association together the said residents and the local
authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to
advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social
welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with objective of
improving the conditions of life for the residents. In furtherance of these

secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or
manage or co-operate with a statutory authority in the maintenance and
management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in
furtherance of the above objects.
The community centre is owned by Yorkshire Housing and provides
premises for several social groups such as "knit and natter" and karate.
A women's group was formed with consultation from residents to engage
hard to reach, isolated women and encouraged social support.
Workshops were provided aimed at improving mental, social and
emotional wellbeing, focusing on loss, change, anger, resilience, low
mood, anxiety, confidence and self-worth.
Events were held celebrating women and providing taster sessions of
complementary therapies and creative activities.
Creative mental health & Wellbeing Hub is a group who facilitate creative
projects run a weekly group
The aim of the group is to grow an inclusive neighbourhood and bring
residents together.

Scoff café provided low cost nutritious, balanced meals to encourage
people to the centre, combat loneliness and increase support networks.
Volunteers have been integral to the success of Scoff Café and Sunday
Social together with the other group activities.
The charity is always actively encouraging residents to consider
volunteering with the centre.
Community fun days are a key to engage with the community and the
Residents aim to do three a year one at Easter, Yorkshire Day &
Christmas the events are planned by the Trustees and aim to include as
many partner agency's and services into the community
The events are very well supported by the community with great
feedback.
The residents Association have been key partners in the Core 20 project
which the NHS funded over three years to tackle Health inequalities in
the area this enabled a health connector to be based in the community
centre on a weekl basis.

during the year
Two very successful community events were held this year. In July,
Yorkshire Day was very successful with the residents along with
Christmas Party. This included Santa Grotto and hot food for all.
