It is<br>with the support and dedication of our volunteers that Myriad<br>Foundation is able to provide continuous weekly support to<br>those suffering from poverty and isolation due to old age in<br>Manchester. |Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|During the year Myriad Foundation continued its food bank<br>operation, “Feed a Friend”,by delivering food parcels directly to<br>those in need. This provides greater dignity and ease to<br>vulnerable service users.<br>Myriad Foundation has continued to operate and run a soup<br>kitchen, “Soup N Smiles”, in Manchester City Centre<br>continuously throughout the year on a bi-weekly basis. The<br>soup kitchen is the Myriad Foundations biggest project, in<br>terms of volunteer numbers, relying on the vital contribution of<br>over 30 volunteers. Over 4000 vital meals were provided to<br>vulnerable people in Manchester including not only soup,<br>beverages and hot meals but also clothing and accessories.<br>Volunteers spend time building relationships with the guests in<br>order to provide relief from social isolation particularly in what<br>was a significantly challenging year for vulnerable<br>communities.<br>Myriad Foundation agreed the terms of a community asset<br>transfer with Manchester City Council to acquire a community<br>building in Longsight from which to deliver a vast array of new<br>projects and expand additional services that are currently being<br>provided. The trustees worked with external advisers to<br>develop a redevelopment plan and due to the listed status of<br>the building entered into ongoing consultations with<br>Manchester City Council’s planning team to agree a scope of<br>work.<br>The Taste Ramadan project was successfully relaunched<br>following postponement for the COVID pandemic. This national<br>initiative involved mosques around the country breaking fast<br>during Ramadan with the local communities to inform and<br>educate about, Ramadan, fasting and Islam generally.|
