Annual Report 2024

‘Our Communit Matters’ y

At Connexions, we have continued to do as much as we possibly can to support people, whether that be young people through youth socials, or families and parents through our parent toddler group, community learning programmes, - drop in sessions and support groups.

With a a second building now, at 100 Church Street, we have many more opportunities to expand our offer and a general desire to do much more within our communities there certainly seems to be a strong sense of community around us with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and support for local projects, the wider community and our local schools. This has also included increased usage of our buildings, by numerous organisations, including more marginalised and diverse groups too.

Community Learning Initiative Connexions

Our education and learning program (CLIC) is a funded project offering essential work and life skills training, along with accredited level 1, 2 and 3 courses, across the curriculum, for all ages, and all abilities , including those who would simply like to return to learning in a more informal setting .

Delivered by our experienced team of qualified Tutors, courses include CPD and entry level English and Maths. Courses in the Arts, Volunteering, Youth Work and Safeguarding, Our new learning programmes also include; First Aid training, Level 2 Food Safety, Early Childhood level 3, Childrens Workforce Level 3 and CSCS Card and Site Safety Qualifications. Working directly with our accreditation partners.

Partnership Working

LCVYS (Lincolnshire Council for Voluntary Youth Services) Continues to be key partner and support to the Community Hub and we are pleased to be the north Lincolnshire community development supplier and partner for LCVYS. Over the year we want to work with as many groups as possible to bring them into LCVYS membership and add to the service to young people that is going on. We were pleased to host the LCVYS AGM at Gainsborough this year.

LCVYS working together with the Young Lincolnshire Partnership has a wide range of Training Provision both physical and online and combined please if you get the chance have a look at the www.lcvys.co.uk as the topics covered or contact the Hub 01427 678695 or LCVYS direct on 01522 569776. Also as part of young Lincolnshire working we are members of Lincolnshire Youth Association/ Boys and Girls Clubs and have access to a very wide range of National Activities and County Events as a result of our automatic affiliation. A national calendar of events including Athletics, Canoeing, Table Tennis, Football, Camping, Boxing and wide access to lists of Residential Centres you can use are available through boys and girls clubs.

Performin Arts Club...Another Fantastic Year g

Over the last year we have seen our club go from strength to strength with a new Chair and many more younger members joining our group. In 2024 we presented our own Musical Version of ‘The Nutcracker’ adapted and developed by leaders for the stage, which was a great success, our next event will be our ‘Movie Madness’ Concert in June 2025 and main show in 2025 will be an originally scripted musical of ‘Disney Villains’ As an organisation we are also doing much more in the way of providing event PA, and have been invited to perform at local community days and shows.

We have also formed our very own band from all our leaders to be known as ’Unknown Destination’ with local performances booked throughout the coming year.

We also continue to teach the Arts Award, with additional funding to provide sessions at Youth Clubs across our District.

Connexions 4 Youth

Youth Socials and a Summer of fun have been on the cards for our youth committee.

In August our young people had a fantastic day out at Ingolmells, arranged and organized by the Lincolnshire Youth Association and LCVYS. Whilst also this year, representatives from C4Y will be attending the National Youth Conference in Cardiff. All great experiences for our young people.

Moving forward, Connexions 4 Youth project has many activities and projects planned, from fundraising and charity events, to litter picks and Community Arts project. Including the delivery of the Young Peoples Workforce Level 3 to our older members, and Discovery Arts Award to young people aged 5 yrs and upwards.

If you would like to learn more about the committee and how you can get involved, simply contact Casey on: 07940 402644.

Parent, Toddler Group

Here at Connexions we know how important it is for families to learn and explore together. Not only will it help with a child’s development but also can create a fun bonding environment for all involved.

As we move into 2025, we have secured funding to provide further activities at our Family Hub (100 Church Street venue), with softplay area, learning corner, feeding corner, fun activities and parent support too. Keep checking our facebook to keep up to date with latest developments.
