## Section D Achievements and erformance p

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

Object a) An updated social media strategy across multiple platforms was developed with the intention of attracting more attention to conservation issues and potential solutions in Paraguay. Posts include details of ongoing research and education projects and offers opportunities for others to get involved. The public response has been very positive and supportive. Object b) The charity made grants to fund four field workers in Paraguay, in primatology, museum studies, and ornithology. One was able to continue her PhD research focused on the ecological requirements of capuchin monkeys in the Paraguayan Atlantic Forest, as well as supervise undergraduate and graduate students conducting research on urban howler monkeys. Several of these students were able to publish their work in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. The other was able to conduct taxonomic work on a variety of taxa found throughout Paraguay including reptiles and mammals, resulting in the publication of results in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. Small equipment purchases for both of these projects were made, including the purchase of camera traps. Object c) Ten trips were undertaken by students from European and US universities, allowing them access to little known and understudied habitats to help generate a passion for conserving threatened ecosystems. Object d) Education events were held in various rural locations in Paraguay for public benefit. The education program expanded to include more than 500 children from indigenous and rural schools in Alto Parana, Itapúa and Caazapá, who were visited by educators.

After a difficult year in 2020 due to the pandemic, the 2021 fundraiser was more successful, raising money to help indigenous communities living in the Atlantic Forest. The charity was awarded a $10,000 Covid-19 relief grant. This was unrestricted funding largely spent on grants to researchers.

## **Section E Financial review**

A Reserves Policy was written and accepted by Trustees in October **Brief statement of the** 2018. The same policy was reviewed and updated in 2021 to reflect **charity’s policy on reserves** changes in CAF bank fees from £5 to £8 per month starting in January 2021. The reserves that we have set aside provide financial stability and the means for the development of our principal activities; i.e. providing funding for biological research in Paraguay. Considering we have no employees or other strict financial obligations, next year we intend to maintain our reserves at a level which is at least equivalent to £150 to cover the £8 monthly Charities Aid Foundation bank fees for 12 months, as well as additional CAF bank fees and charges for transactions. In 2022 we intend to use the reserves at a rate of £8 per month, plus additional transaction fees. The Trustees annually review the amount of reserves that are required to ensure that they are adequate to fulfil continuing obligations. There were £1,969 in reserves held at the end of 2021. **Details of any funds materially** N/A **in deficit Further financial review details (Optional information)**
