Recognition of These are included inthe StatementofFinancial Activities {SoFA) when:
income
the charity becomes entitledtothe resources;
it is more likelythan notthat thetrusteeswill receivethe resources; and
the monetary value can be measured with sufficientreliability.
Offsetting There has been no offsetting ofassets and liabilities, or income and expenses,
unless required or permitted bythe FRS 102 SORP or FRS 102.
Grants and Grants and donations are only included inthe SoFAwhenthe general income
donations recognition criteria are met(5.10to 5.12 FRS102 SORP).
Legacies Legacies are included inthe SOFAwhen receipt is probable,thatis, whenthere
has been grantofprobate,the executors have establishedthatthere are
sufficientassets inthe estate and anyconditions attachedtothe legacyare
eitherwithinthe control ofthe charityor have been met.
Tax reclaims on Gift Aid receivable is included in income whenthere is a valid declaration from
donations and gifts the donor. Any Gift Aid amountrecovered on a donation is consideredto be
partofthatgiftand istreated as an additiontothe samefund asthe initial
donation unlessthe donor ortheterms ofthe appeal have specified otherwise.
Contractual income This is only included inthe SoFA oncethe charity has providedthe related goods
or servicesor met the performance related conditions.
Donated goods Donated goods are measured atfair value {the amountforwhichthe assetcould
be exchanged) unless impracticalto do so.
Goodsdonatedfor on-going use bythe charity are recognised astangiblefixed
assets and included inthe SoFA as incoming resourceswhen receivable.
Gifts in kind for use bythe charityare included inthe SoFA as incomefrom
donationswhen receivable.
Volunteer help The value ofanyvoluntary help received is not included inthe accounts but is
described inthetrustees' annual report.
Donated services Donated services and facilities are included inthe SOFA when received atthe
and facilities value ofthe gifttothe charityprovidedthe value ofthe giftcan be measured
reliably.
Donated services and facilitiesthatare consumed immediatelyare recognised as
income with an equivalentamountrecognised as an expense underthe
appropriate heading inthe SOFA.

Liability Liabilities are recognised where it is more likelythan notthat there is a legal or
recognition constructive obligation committingthe charityto pay outresources andthe
amountofthe obligation can be measured with reasonable certainty.
Governance costs Governance costs comprise all costs involving public accountability ofthe
charity and its compliance with regulation and good practice.
Support costs Support costs include centralfunctions and have been allocatedto activity
costcategories on a basis consistentwiththe use ofresources, eg allocating
staff costs bythetime spentand other costs bytheir usage.
Redundancy cost The charity made no redundancy payments duringthe reporting period.
Provisions for A liability is measured on recognition at its historical costandthen
liabilities subsequently measured atthe bestestimate ofthe amountrequiredto settle
the obligation at the reporting date
Basic financial The charity accounts for basicfinancial instruments on initial recognition as
instruments per paragraph 10.7 FRS102 SORP. Subsequentmeasurement is as per
paragraphs 11.17to 11.19, FRS102 SORP.
