Annual Return 2024 – 2025

In 2024-25 Forest Harvest has continued with the aim of becoming more self-reliant and sustainable, generating more of its own income and depending less on grants & donations. FH received no grants through the year and a druid group used the site regularly which was another source of income making self-sufficiency achievable.

A successful fund-raising open evening was introduced in the Summer which will be repeated and developed next year. Leaflets have already been printed to promote the Woodmill site for rental. Courses will mainly be on topics following our object of living sustainably and helping the natural environment.

The major site improvements have been already made reflected in the lower costs this year.

Achievements:

The charity has continued to educate the public in subjects relating to sustainable living by running courses on how to grow vegetables, how to use natural dyes and by practicing weaving.

The now established Wednesday Bloom Group

has used the site for growing vegetables, flowers and plants for natural dyes.

Where possible the food grown is used to make soups and drinks and the spare produce taken home.

The new Polytunnel was a successful growing area being cooler than the fully enclosed tunnel

next door. As well as tomatoes, beans and peppers, a perennial asparagus bed was created.

As previous years flowers were given to the local church for harvest festival.

A local druid group regularly used the site for celebrations using the Hop Henge; craft activities and refreshments inside. Members reconnected with nature and learned about meditation techniques. A monthly course was run about individual trees and their different growth. This will be developed next year with herbs and smaller plants with emphasis on their medical uses. Policy documents were formalised and improved: Code of Conduct; Risk Assessment; Fire Policy.
