## _**The Gospel Outreach Ministry Hackney Trustees Report**_

## **Aim and purposes**

The Gospel Outreach Ministry Hackney (GOMH) has the responsibility of promoting in the ecclesiastical parish, the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical.

## **Objectives and Activities**

The GOMH is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to become part of our parish community at St. Matthews. The GOMH maintains an overview of worship throughout the parish and makes suggestions on how our services can involve the many groups that are active within our parish. Our services and worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, music and sacrament.

When planning our activities for the year, the GOMH have considered the Commission's guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular, we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our parish community through:

Worship and prayer; learning about the Gospel and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus.

Provision of pastoral care for people living in the parish.

Missionary and outreach work.

Activities for young people and young adults.

## **Achievements and Performance**

## _Worship and Prayer_

The GOMH offer a range of services during the week and over the course of the year that our community find both beneficial and spiritually fulfilling. For example, annual anniversary celebration service, evening prayers provide a quiet, intimate and reflective environment for worship whilst opportunities are provided for people to engage in more outgoing worship such as that provided by the teenagers and youth group within our parish.

This year we welcomed families into our church family and have maintained a new style of Youth Worship on the 2nd Sunday of each month and Young Adults hold their service on the 3[rd] Sunday of each month.

Charity Registration No: 1172070

Special arrangements have had to be made for baptisms and for welcoming the families at corporate worship on the 1st Sunday of each month. We are able to report that the new arrangements have been well received since they came into operation.

## **COVID-19**

**We have not been able to function following the lockdown implemented in March 2020. When we resume our services, all are welcome to attend our regular services.**

**Activity Risk Assessment: We will provide an activity risk assessment to St Matthews Church. Parishioners, members and visitors will be issued with the risk assessment in advance to ensure each person is aware of the measures in place and what we can all do together to stop the spread of the virus.**

## _**Pastoral Care**_

When the lockdown is over, we will continue to use the hall for fun days. Teaching sessions for adults, teenagers and children are provided weekly. Pastoral care is presently provided by social media, telephone calls and social distancing.

## _**Mission and Evangelism**_

The Mission and Evangelism Committee is to be congratulated on their fund-raising efforts. It is good that these efforts on behalf of others can be combined with opportunities for fellowship.

Our Mission and Evangelism program will continue when the lockdown is over and it is safe to do so.

## _**Well being:**_

The GOMH support the community with food donations from Tesco each week. This has continued with social distancing and PPE i.e. Face masks will be provided.

## **Financial Review 2020/21**

We are submitting our third annual accounts. The accounts will be displayed on the Charity Commission website.

## **Volunteers**

We would like to thank all the volunteers who work so hard to make our church the lively and vibrant community that it has become. In particular we want to mention our Deacons Orango Scott & Clive Simpson, Sunday school teachers Vanessa Scott, Sandrika Phillips and Julie Simpson who have worked so tirelessly on our behalf, Minister
