As the weather improves, we’re excited to make even more use of our outdoor garden, giving families access to high‑quality outdoor play and fresh-air adventures. Our sessions continue to be a welcoming space for new mums, dads, and grandparents. For many, it’s a chance to meet others, build friendships, and ease feelings of loneliness or isolation. We also support parents experiencing anxiety or depression, with our Little Doves messenger group offering an extra layer of connection and reassurance. Children aged 4 to 10 threw themselves into a brilliant mix of activities—many of which they wouldn’t normally get the chance to experience. ## **A taste of the fun:** - **Team games** that spark confidence, friendship, and teamwork - **Arts and crafts** to unleash creativity and help little hands master new skills - **Outdoor adventures and off‑site trips** giving children space to explore, move, and discover - **Science and sensory play** to feed curiosity and encourage brave new thinking - **Our sensory room and garden** offering calm, therapeutic moments - **Free play** —the magic ingredient for emotional growth, resilience, and joy - **Cooking sessions** that mix reading, measuring, and delicious creativity These schemes aren’t just fun—they help children grow, learn, and shine. A huge thank you to our amazing staff team for delivering another safe, joyful, and unforgettable programme. ## **Stay & Play** Even with many of our regular children moving on to nursery in September, our Stay & Play sessions remain wonderfully busy—especially on Wednesdays. As the weather improves, we’re excited to make even more use of our outdoor garden, giving families access to high‑quality outdoor play and fresh-air adventures. Our sessions continue to be a welcoming space for new mums, dads, and grandparents. For many, it’s a chance to meet others, build friendships, and ease feelings of loneliness or isolation. We also support parents experiencing anxiety or depression, with our Little Doves messenger group offering an extra layer of connection and reassurance. We’re especially grateful for the experienced grandmothers in our community who bring warmth, wisdom, and encouragement to younger parents—proof that it truly _does_ take a village. ## **What Stay & Play offers families:** - A safe, engaging space for children to explore, play, and learn - A wide range of fun, educational activities and toys that support early development - Outdoor play and garden time to encourage movement, curiosity, and confidence - Free play, messy play, arts and crafts, sensory play, and time in our sensory room - Opportunities that support speech and language, sharing, turn‑taking, and trying new things Working closely with parents is central to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and strong relationships between families and providers are known to have long‑lasting benefits for children’s learning and wellbeing. Research also shows that Stay & Play sessions—where parents and children play, sing, and learn together—can reduce parenting stress, improve parental wellbeing, and create richer learning environments at home. **SKIP** (Senior & Kids Intergenerational Project) is our newest project running from the Dovecote. The object of the project is to bring together of people from various age groups and backgrounds with the aim that it will lead to a rich exchange of ideas, experiences, and perspectives within our community. This included assessing financial risks, organisational liabilities, and wider external pressures. ## **Risk Assessment** In setting the reserves level, Trustees considered: - Limited and uncertain future funding - Employer and organisational liabilities - External financial pressures affecting income in 2025/26 A formal risk assessment for 2025/26 confirmed the need for a prudent and robust reserves strategy. ## **How the Reserves Level Was Determined** The final reserves level was set following a detailed review that included: - Consultation between the manager, treasurer, and Trustees - Analysis of cash flow, existing funds, and current reserves - Assessment of projected income streams and committed expenditure - Consideration of funding fluctuations and the charity’s ability to manage income changes - Evaluation of the potential impact on beneficiaries if services were disrupted - Forecasting future income and expenditure - Review of organisational liabilities, contingencies, and associated risks - Recognition of the volatility of charity income and current financial challenges - Consideration of the broader economic climate and insolvency risks ## **Purpose and Level of Reserves** Reserves are held to ensure the organisation can meet all liabilities should future funding not be secured, including employer responsibilities, operational commitments, and essential organisational costs. Trustees have agreed to maintain reserves equivalent to **a minimum of six months’ wind‑down costs** , alongside employer and organisational liabilities such as office expenses, asset disposal, and secure storage of legal and confidential documents.
