**holistic recovery of youth following the**
**covid-19 pandemic. Social indicators**
**from our end of year analysis in 2021**
**indicated that high levels of school**
**abandonment and truancy would**

**people returning to education would have**
**fallen further behind in age-grade literacy**
**and mathematics. Data also indicated**
**that mental health of young**
**people had been significantly impacted**
**by 2 years of stay-at-home directives, and**
**that financial pressures had**
**increased the domestic burden of**
**vulnerable youth across Rio's favela**
**communities. Based on this**
**understanding,**
**in 2022 we sought to continue to deliver**
**and grow our in-person services in Morro**
**do Castro, whilst retaining our**
**capacity and dynamism to adapt**
**programming to remote platforms when**
**and where it is required. This has**
**involved expanding our presence in**
**Morro do Castro by incorporating an**
**additional 12 hours of in class activities**
**into our weekly programme, setting up**
**programmes in two new schools within**
**the city of Niterói, and adjusting our**
**development model to include a 5th pillar**
**of intervention, Social Services, focused**
**on ensuring no child within the**
**communities we serve is left behind.**
**These priorities are directly in line with**
**OneRio's wider organisation vision, to**
**end**
**intergenerational poverty in the**
**communities it serves, and to help other**
**communities do the same.**
