|Summary ofthemain<br>achievements of the charity<br>duringthe year|The Coker Rope & SailCIOwasregisteredonMarch12417, to take<br>overthepurposes and activitiesoftheolder Coker &SailTrust (Charity<br>no.1120031),theprimary aim beingtoprotect trustees from potentially<br>large personal liabilities.Ourtrustees are local people who are closely|
||involved withtheproject. The CIO holdsalltheleases-themain factory|
||site, the visitor centre site, and the strip oflandtothenorth ownedbythe|
||neighbouring Windsor family. All three leases are registered. The|
||accountsofthe older Trust were closedandthe funds transferredtothe|
||ClO. The CIO also now claimsGiftAidinsteadofthe Trust.|
||After the easing of Govid restrictions,2O22 sawtheresumptionof|
||'normal' opening, including many group visits by U3As, Probus,local|
||history societies and car clubs. These continue. A seriesoftalks was well|
||received and is beingrunagain this year.Asrestorationofthe Victorian|
||worksbegan about15years ago,wenow find areas where repairs have|
||tobe redone, and thereisongoing maintenanceofthemachinery and|
||buildings.|
||Amain priorityisto securetheproject'sfuture.WhentheCIO was|
||created duringthemain restoration period, only3trustees were|
||appointedsothatwehada small and effective set of decision makers.ln|
||recent monthswehave appointed two more trusteestoreduce|
||vulnerability.|
||Weplayed a major partinOSR Projects' 2023OdArts festival, with our|
||own commissioned artist.Wehave had some successfromusingthe|
||eventtotry to recruit more volunteers fromthislargewider-andyounger|
||-audience.|
||Our income-which is now almost entirely donations-continues to meet|
||allourroutine outgoings, despitethelarge increaseinelectricitycosts.|
||The decisionswemade 6 years ago forthenewvisitor centre-a heat|
||pump and underfloor heating, plus LED lighting and good insulation|
||everywhere have been proved correct.|
