Trident Youth and Community Centre – Chairman’s Annual Report 

A difficult year for the Trident as we fully emerged from the Covid Pandemic. We were pleased to welcome our regular clubs back to their weekly/monthly meetings when they felt ready to do so. 

With our dedicated team of Trustees and helpers and careful management we are pleased to say that the Trident is now back on track. 

We welcomed 3 new Trustees at the beginning of 2022 but we still have places for anyone who may like to join us. 

On a very sad note we recently received the news that our fellow Trustee and Vice Chairman Mr John Harman passed away suddenly. He was a very calm and gentle man with a vast knowledge who was able to guide the Trustees when any issues needed addressing. He was also our Treasurer for many years assisted by his wife Yvonne. They both worked tirelessly for the good of the Trident Youth and Community Centre. 

The start of this year necessitated us as Trustees to revaluate our electricity requirements, with cost saving equipment being installed. We have made a start by installing timer switches in the main hall Ladies and Gents toilets and have been replacing old lighting throughout our premises with energy saving LED lights this is being continued until all old lighting has been upgraded. 

Our kitchen is undergoing a complete refurbishment with just the decorating to be completed on a suitable date to cause least disruption to our regular users. 

We have also recently had some of the car park potholes patched by a contractor, we hope to be able to resurface all or part of the car park when funds allow. 

Future projects will include installing a new metering system. Carrying out a full maintenance survey of all our buildings and CCTV equipment. 

Addressing the deterioration on the surface of the outside games court and repainting the lines. 

Refurbishment of the external old scout den, now used as a store, this will require complete rewiring, insulation, floor levelling, roof repairs and heating installed. This will make it an invaluable storage area for ourselves. 

The Social Club cellar also needs attention, along with the MUGA changing rooms and toilet areas. 



We hope that Somerset Community Foundation may be able to offer financial assistance for some of these future projects in the form of a grant or loan. This will be discussed at the next Trustees meeting. 

If anyone has any ideas for future improvements/projects that will enhance the Trident Youth and Community Centre premises please put in writing to myself, these will then be discussed at the next Trustees meeting. 

I would like to personally thank all of the Trident Trustees for their continued support and also thanks must go to Kate Pollard for looking after the Trident Accounts.
