Trident Youth and Community Chairman’s report 2021
Hello to you all and a Happy New Year,
Well what a difficult year this has been Covid Covid Covid, like myself you are probably fed up with it all, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. We will all emerge into sunshine.
Firstly may I thank all the hard working individuals who have kept The Trident Youth and Community Centre going , I think it would be fair to say our doors have stayed open when restrictions have allowed, helping all those who have needed us.
To all of our regular groups - Scout’s, Guide’s, Cubs, Brownies, Beavers, Rainbows, Zumba Gold, Age UK, Veteran Short mat Bowls Club, Slimming World, various Art and keep fit classes, Kick Boxing, and all other regular users. In addition several Front Line Workers have used our facilities during this time - NHS. Police. Fire Service and Hospital Staff. First Aid Classes and Prison Service (Security Companies) many thanks to you all for being patient with us.
Work has not stopped at the centre with the following jobs now completed - New Fire Door fitted to main hall, Additional CCTV Cameras Fitted , New Flooring fitted to Main Hall and Stage Area, New Chairs Purchased, Main Heat Store Pumps Replaced and Voltaic panels repaired both unfortunately due to vandalism. PA system updated any many more small jobs completed.
Government Covid Grants have been very much appreciated during this time and have now allowed us to secure the following repairs and updates to be completed - New Disability Pathway to be refurbished to side of main hall March 2022. Large Area of main car park to be resurfaced March 2022. Completion of Security Fencing to side of Five a Side Pathway (January 2022), Five a Side playing Area to be repainted and remarked, Two new Fire Doors to be fitted (Purchased and in our Stock), Old Scout Den to be Refurbished, Mens Shower Block toilets to be Refurbished, and finally new fire proof Curtains to Stage Area.
Earlier this year Mr Peter Yeandle, a fellow Trustee, booking secretary and fund raiser for many years made the decision to retire from his post. We wish him and his wife Kate a happy and healthy retirement and thank him for all his hard work, commitment and dedication over the years.
The Galmington Social Club and Primary Colours Nursery, our two tenants, have had their difficult moments over the last year but the Trustees have supported them where possible and hope for better times to come for them both.
New Trustees will be joining us in early 2022 and I look forward to welcoming them to their first meeting.
Personally a really big thanks to Ann Porter for keeping me on the correct course to push on through 2022 and get the Trident buzzing again. I can’t thank her enough.
Thanks must also go to Kate Pollard for looking after the Trident Accounts for us and to our dedicated team of Trustees.
Finally I would like to finish by wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Regards
Michael Crawley – Chairperson, Trident Youth and Community Centre
