August 2024

Dear Trustees, AED Hosts, Sponsors, Guardians, and Defib Angel Groups,

2023-24 Year End Report

Thank you again :

Thank you all again for your continued support of your local Community Public Access Defibrillators (CPADS).

We have with your help again extended the CPAD network throughout Worcestershire. At the end of our financial year, 28th February, we have increased our network to 179 CPADs and AEDs since starting seven years ago, another amazing increase of thirty-two last year.

It should have been more, but there has been an unexpected delay siting five. These will however, on the bright side, give a welcome start to 2024/25.

A special mention must be given to Kerry Wood and her team in Evesham who have been responsible for a lot of the above increase.

Lifesavers:

We have now successfully defibrillated six people in Worcestershire that I know of. Hopefully there have been more that I am unaware of.

Income and Expenditure:

Please find enclosed the Year End Income and Expenditure report to 28th February 2024.

Our income was down last year by 14.1%. This mainly due to us not getting as many grants from other charities, with the two exceptions of £7,500 from the Masonic Charitable Foundation, and £350 from the Monday Night Group. Our thanks to them.

Donations for Maintenance of our CPADs are, as expected, 29.4% down due to the “Buy Two, Get Three FREE” promotion the previous year.

There was a 74% increase in donations for CPADs, mainly driven by the Evesham team mentioned above.

Expenditure on Maintenance was 81.4% down, largely due to purchasing stock batteries at the end of the previous financial year to avoid a price rise.

As always, there are no staff costs, with all involved in Droitwich AED being volunteers. There are no office overheads as the charity is run from my home.

Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation No. 1171993

My thanks as always to our long-suffering bookkeeper, Mrs Gina Pilley, for her continued help checking and compiling our accounts.

Fundraising:

We still do not currently have a designated fundraiser. If anybody feels that they could help with this aspect, please get in touch.

AED Guardians:

My thanks again, as always, to all our team of hosts and guardians who have continued checking their CPADS are rescue ready throughout the year. Without your help our network would fail.

FREE CPADS:

Despite advertising on social media and putting up signs at various locations in Droitwich, the only respondents to date have been Droitwich Spa Town Council with three suggested locations, which we have used.

Wherever you live in Droitwich, if you are not within 500 metres of an existing CPAD, you and your neighbours are at risk of a fatal Cardiac Arrest.

Can you site a CPAD in your neighbourhood? Email Droitwich.AED@gmail.com for more information if you think you can.

And Finally:

As always, my personal thanks again to you all for your support.

You are all lifesavers.

Best wishes and stay safe.
