TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2020

THE ABBFEST BEER AND FOOD FESTIVAL 1171953

Abbfest is a CIO which raises money through an annual festival of Beer, Food, Crafts and Music. It distributes its surplus (if any) through a formal application process. A Management Committee runs the event, under the overall supervision of appointed Trustees.

The Trustees policy is to let the Management Committee, chaired by the Festival Director, manage the event once certain parameters have been set down by the Trustees, such as budget approval, limitations on the kinds of activities that may take place, and oversight of the key team leaders running the event. The Trustees meet regularly to ensure that they have an effective oversight of Abbfest activities and its finances.

In line with most events and activities planned in 2020, Abbfest was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Through the good housekeeping and contract negotiation of the Management Committee, the financial impact of cancellation was kept to a minimum with a relatively small loss due to deposits already paid and not refundable.

The Trustees and Management Committee are looking towards the possibility of the festival going ahead in 2021 and are therefore keeping a close eye on developments and government guidance.

We are happy that we have effective safeguarding, risk management and safety policies, and that the statutory authorities, such as licencing, fire and police, are involved and that their requirements are adhered to.

Amy Hedger Secretary to the Trustees March 2020.
