FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2020

Thetrusteespresenttheirreportwiththefinancialstatementsofthecharityfortheyear ended
31December2020.ThetrusteeshaveadoptedtheprovisionsofAccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordance with
theFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS102)(effective 1
January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

Topromoteefficientcosteffectiveandwhereappropriate,coordinateddeliveryofemergency services
aid.Including,butnotexclusively,provisionofequipment,trainingandservicedevelopmentadvice to
helpmoreeffectivelyreducelossoflifeandinjuriesworldwidedueto,butnotexclusively,fire, accidents
and disasters.
Theobjectivestobeachievedbyactingasacommunicationhubbetweenmemberorganisations and
doneesfortheprocurementofequipment,materialsandfunds,bypromotingtheworkof member
organisations,facilitatepartnershipsandjointprojectswhereappropriateanddevelopmentof best
practice guidance for the delivery of emergency services aid.

Public benefit

TheTrusteeshavepaiddueregardtotheCharityCommissionguidanceonpublicbenefitwhen planning
the charities activities.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

FIRE AID have recruited 5 new FIRE AID members and FIRE AID currently have 35 members.
London Fire Brigade have seconded a member of staff to FIRE AID part time to assist with admin duties.
Inearly2020,FIREAIDdonated1fireappliancefromBuckinghamshireFire&RescueService through
our database to the Ukraine..
Equipment donations were paused from April 2020 due to COVID-19 safety restrictions.
All overseas projects were restricted due to COVID-19 safety restrictions in April 2020.
Fundraising events were cancelled due to COVID-19 safety restrictions.
EmergencyServicesShowandFIREAID'sannualconferencewerecancelledduetoCOVID-19 safety
restrictions.
FIRE AID has 297 newsletter subscriptions.
FIRE AID have received over 7,000 website hits.
FIRE AID now have 1,358 twitter followers.
During2020,FIREAIDsecuredadonationfromHolmatro,andcontinuedtoreceivecorefundingfrom the
FIA Foundation and EASST.

FIREAIDwasrepresentedat5onlineeventsandthe3rdGlobalMinisterialConferenceonRoadSafety in
Stockholm where FIRE AID Deputy Chair spoke at the post crash response seminar.
FIRE AID attended 3 online UNRSC meetings.
Inlate2020FIREAIDwasabletodeliverover1,000setsofPPEdividedbetweenUkraineand the
Philippines.
FIREAIDhascontinuedremoteprojectsreviewingthepost-crashsystemsinTajikistan,Lebanon, Egypt
and Kyrgyzstan.
FIRE AID has continued work with the FCDO on reviewing fire safety materials used in refugee camps.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial position

FIRE AID has core funding from the FIA Foundation, EASST and the Asian Fire Service Association (AFSA).
Project specific funding is secured separately by member organisations

Governing document

Thecharityiscontrolledbyitsgoverningdocument,adeedoftrustandconstitutesan unincorporated
charity.

Recruitment and appointment of new members

FullmembershipoftheCIOisopentonotforprofitorganisationsinvolvedindelivering emergency
servicesaidandwhoareinterestedinfurtheringitspurposes,andwhobyapplyingformembership, has
indicatedhis,heroritsagreementtobecomeamemberandacceptanceofthedutyofmembersas set
out in the constitution.
Affiliate membership is open to UK and international companies and other organisationa.

Duty of Trustees and members

ThecharitytrusteesaretomanagetheaffairsoftheCIOandmayforthatpurposeexerciseallpowers of
the CIO.
Thereshouldbenolessthan2normorethan7electedtrusteesandthereshouldbe1exofficio trustee
(chair) and not more than 5 nominated trustees.
ItisthedutyofeachmemberoftheCIOtoexercisehisorherpowersasamemberoftheCIOinthe way
he or she decides in good faith would be most likely to further the purposes of the CIO.

Decision making

Responsibilities and basis of report

AsthecharitytrusteesoftheTrustyouareresponsibleforthepreparationoftheaccountsin accordance
with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
IreportinrespectofmyexaminationoftheTrust'saccountscarriedoutundersection145oftheAct and
incarryingoutmyexaminationIhavefollowedallapplicableDirectionsgivenbytheCharity Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

Ihavecompletedmyexamination.Iconfirmthatnomaterialmattershavecometomyattention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharity,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,have been
preparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsin accordance
withtheFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS 102)
(effective1January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReporting Standard
applicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCharitiesAct2011.Thefinancial statements
have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Income

AllincomeisrecognisedintheStatementofFinancialActivitiesoncethecharityhasentitlement to
the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

Expenditure

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructive obligation
committingthecharitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefits will
berequiredinsettlementandtheamountoftheobligationcanbemeasuredreliably. Expenditure
isaccountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregate all
costrelatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbedirectlyattributedtoparticularheadings they
have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

Taxation

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting

Unrestrictedfundscanbeusedinaccordancewiththecharitableobjectivesatthediscretionof the
trustees.
Restrictedfundscanonlybeusedforparticularrestrictedpurposeswithintheobjectsof the
