Irust was established as a charity on the 6th March 2017. The trust became the legal owners of
the Chapel and its site on 26th April 2017. This annual report covers the period 1s1 January to 3151
De￿mber 2024.

Our primary purpose is to manage the preseniation. irnproveffent and maintenance for the publlc
benefit of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Crag in Abbey Road. Knaresborough and surrounding larKI
as owners and guardians of its cultural and religious heritage. By doing so we shall be preserving a
landmark of historical, rellgious, cLAtural and social significance and advancing (a) chapel's
function as a religlous site for pilgrimage and prayer. ar¥J (b) the education of the public in the
heritage, culture and history in the to￿1 of Knaresborough. Our secoThlary objectives are such other
purposes as are exdusively charitable in accordan￿ with the laws of England and Wales as the
trustees may from time to time decjde.
These are the approved aCtIv￿e8 as listed on the Charty Commi&sion ￿ebSIte, which meet the above
charitsble objectives:
Our primary purpose Is to preserve and maintain the hlstoric grade 115sted bullding, Chapel of Our
Lady of the Crag in Abbey Road, Knaresborough (arvj tts surrounding larKI), for publlc benefit. We
welcome visitors by regular openirKJ during the summer months, farylitating all year-round pilgrimage
and prayer, and teaching visiting groups about history and fEritage of the dwpel.
The trustees have cross-referenced tt)ese obj.ec￿ and a￿￿leS with the Charity Corrrnission
guidance public benefit.

The Trust is constituied as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation arKt has used the Charity
Commissioners, template for its g0vem1￿ d0￿Ment.
The￿ We￿ six trustees wilh an01tr￿f tntstee nominated by KnaresborowJh Town Council. Therefore.
at the start of 2024 there V•ere seven trustees, all of whom V￿re active. Tr governing document
allows for the recruitment of trustees to a maximum of Iwelve by a quorate meeting of the trust. The
quorum for a trustees. IrEeling is iwo. All trustees must be at least 16 years of age and at least one
trustee must be at least 18 years of age. There is only one space for a nominated trustee.
