|achievements of thecharity|theentireyear.Thevastmajority of ourdisabled members being|
|duringthe year|vulnerablebecame lockeddownintheirownhomes and facetoface|
||contactwiththe coordinatorandour volunteerswasnotpossible,so|
||contactwasswitchedtoregulartelephoneandvideo communicationto|
||ensurethatmembersdid not feelisolated. The socialprogrammewas|
||suspendedaslockdownmeantthatall hospitalityand sports venues|
||wereclosed; notripsor visitswerepossible,ourregularpublunchesand|
||theannualXmasDinnerwereall cancelled.|
||Thecharitypurchasedanumber of tabletsforthosememberswith|
||disabilitieswithout themeanstoaccesstheinternet.This enabledthe|
||charity throughZoamtoholdaweeklyseatedPilates sessionrunbyour|
||coordinator whoisalso aqualified instructor,andamonthlypubtype|
||quiz organisedbyoneof our volunteers.|
||Attheend ofthis financialyear, wewereactivelysupporting32|
||members,27withinReadingandafurther5in West Berkshireand|
||Wokinghamlocalauthorityareas.|
||ln previousyears,therangeof activities enjoyedbyourmemberswould|
||normallyinclude walking,swirnming,learning and playing musical|
||instruments, learninglTskills,gardening, arts and crafts, cinemaand|
||theatrevisits,attendingfootballmatches, andassistingwithtripsout of|
||thehouse,particularlywithleisure shopping. However,themajorityof|
||theseactivitieshaveallhadtobecurtaileduntillockdownislifted.lnthe|
||meantime,morevolunteershave beenrecruitedtoassistwithtelephone|
||befriending.Examplesofthe worktoachievesuccessfuloutcomesis|
||given below.|
||Amemberwithschool and housingissuesneeded helpwithliteracy|
||skills. lndifficultcircumstances wesupportedthememberinaschool|
||appeal andaplacewasfound atalocal college. Wealso assistedthe|
||memberto putinabidforsuitable alternativehousingforher daughter.|
||Wealsoarrangedforatelephone volunteerandthememberisenjoying|
||regularchats.|
||Ourcoordinatorwascontactedbyoneof the telephone volunteers|
||aboutafemale member whowas unhappyandtearfulwithhercare|
||package.Thecoordinatorwas abletoobtainactionfromsocial services|
||toprovidethememberwithanewfemaleonly carepackage.Wehave|
||assisted herwhenherprescriptionwasincorrectand arrangedforitto|
||be changed anddelivered.Ourinteractionandassistance hasmadean|
||enormous differencetothis member's wellbeing.|
