Section D
Achievements and performance
During u3a week, in September, we held an open afternoon at Retford
Library to showcase to the public what the u3a has to offer. We
advertised the event on market day, and it was well attended, with new
members joining as a result. We are always keen to widen awareness of
the u3a and encourage participation in our many activities.
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
In addition, 44 interest groups, following the ethos of shared, participative
and self-help learning were active during the course of the year. resulting
not only in an increase in knowledge, but also a supportive, inclusive and
friendly atmosphere which enables everyone to participate.
A members newsletter, The Not so Idle Times, is created each month
and distributed to members by email, with hard copy available at the
monthly meetings. This provides the members with information about
what is happening in Retford u3a, in the wider Third Age Trust and also
highlights activities of the interest groups.
