During 2023, the Board developed its new straleg￿ pl￿ 202*2028. to replace the Shorter temis plan that was
in place lo steer the organisalion lfv￿gh immedi*e post-pan(lemic PWk)d. The Board continued to seek advice
from ils Advisory Council on strategic matters., the Counal met in January 2023 and considered. inter alia, the
EACR'S industy r81ationships Wblh industy and htr4rf the orwisation mi￿( Sup[￿ mid.career and s¢nior
researchers.
In October 2022. the Board •JTeed lo eslaNish an Éarty C￿e8r Rese¥c*￿￿ Counul to consider and proposes
to the Board new ways in ￿1c￿ the EACR can supFort arnl develop re$epAcher$ in the early stages of their
careers. Eight twr￿ing members were nominated by the Board Iho Council hèld its first meeting in January
2023. Over th8 ￿ar, the Council has gone from strength to strength and has held virtual netsyorking sessions. as
well as plannirvj an irFperson syynpowm to take place at the congre55 in June 2024.
EACR staffing was stable in 2023, Confer8nc8 Oknr joining in February 2023 and no changes
since. A successlul akstsff away day was hekl li ￿Y 2023 and the leam continues to grcw arNI devekjp.
The EACR was able lo continue retum lo in-person Confe￿nceS in 2023. vthilst ￿ntInuing to delivw some
conferences arKI Webir￿[S online. In June 2023, a suc£essful in-person congress was h81d in Turin. Il*. This
was the EACR'S largest ever event. wilh ffl(￿e than 2,000 peo* takin9 part.
Fundmg opportunities lor members continwl to be expanded in 2023. The Travd Fello%￿lP scheme made 29
awards ftom 84 applications. Four I￿ldOCtoral Feknyships were avrarded.. two funded by Astra Zeneca and
by Boethn9er Ingdhewn. Some of these wqects *ill start li 2024.
Mambers and the publi¢ were kept Ip lo date aLXivil'es, news and events in the cancer research
communty via the fortr￿ghtlY email ￿￿elIn. the EACR website and digilal magazNie, The Can¢er
Re5ewcher. In March 2023. we laurKhe(I the first epi￿ of cojr nthv pothasl wheie renowned researchars
