Introduction
This report outlines the activities and achievements of our charity over the past year, highlighting our efforts in health, education, community development, and empowerment. Our mission remains focused on reducing poverty and supporting community development in The Gambia.
Health Initiatives
Eye Health Project:
Supported 10 patients with regular glaucoma check-ups and provided monthly sightsaving eye drops.
Emergency Medical Assistance:
Assisted over 50 individuals in accessing emergency care at various hospitals including AfricMed International Hospital, Ndemban health center, Kajabang healthpost delivering vital life-saving treatment.
Child Surgery and Rehabilitation:
Sponsored a child’s critical operation and extensive rehabilitation.
Health Screening Days:
Organized screenings for diabetes and hypertension, creating pathways for improving wellbeing through our support center.
Eye Screening for community:
Conducted eye screenings with a trained ophthalmologist, providing glasses and treatment to those in need.
Kajabang Health Post Facility:
Built a dedicated facility at Kajabang Health Post for monthly antenatal and baby care services. Public health and midwives’ nurses now visit each month, supporting the Gambian government’s maternal and child health initiatives.
Education and Youth Development
Partner Schools :
Through our volunteer network we have sponsored two full teacher salaries, renovated parks and playgrounds, painted classrooms, and provided monthly food security to a school supporting early childhood education and nutrition.
Weekend Study Program:
Delivered weekend study classes for 35 students, fostering educational growth.
Scouting and Guiding : Provided musical instruments to scouts and hosted guide workshops,
enhancing youth development and engagement and sharing information on health awareness such as cancer and acute illnesses.
Peer Education and Birding Group:
Conducted regular sessions with a birding group, surveying migratory birds while building confidence in young people.
Laptop Donations:
Donated laptops to local schools, complementing the Gambian government’s “One Laptop per School” initiative and enhancing digital learning opportunities for students.
16th Annual Summer Programme:
Held our 16th annual summer programme, supporting 350 students with additional lessons over a 4-week period. The programme focused on curriculum-based activities alongside health awareness lessons on diabetes, hypertension, and disabilities, ensuring a holistic approach to education and wellbeing. Also ensured food security during the summer.
Community Wellbeing and Empowerment
Wellbeing Classes:
Hosted weekly wellbeing classes throughout the whole year, facilitated by a trained coordinator. Delivered four classes each week, aimed at supporting students for their general wellbeing and adults living with comorbidity diseases to help turn their health around. The programme provided targeted guidance, encouragement, and practical steps for healthier living. Literacy and Women Empowerment:
Facilitated literacy and empowerment classes for women, fostering skills and independence. These classes included practical baking and craft skills, as well as sewing, enabling participants to gain both personal confidence and potential income-generating abilities.
Playgrounds and Recreational Spaces:
Renovated parks and playgrounds, creating safe spaces for children and families.
Fundraising and Supporters
Our achievements are only possible through the generosity of those who support our work. In 2023–24, our income came from three main sources:

Fundraising Activities: Supporters raised money through sponsored events and online campaigns such as JustGiving.

Regular Giving and Sponsorship: Many individuals gave monthly donations or sponsorship contributions.

Event Donations: Donations received for organized events such as our annual summer programme.
Impact Summary
Our charity’s programs continue to make a measurable impact on the lives of individuals and communities. This year, we: Supported over 50 people with emergency medical care. Improved access to education for children and youth through teacher sponsorships, classroom renovations, weekend study programs, and technology provision.
Enhanced community health and wellbeing with targeted screenings, workshops, and maternal/child health services. Empowered women and youth through education, confidencebuilding activities, and resource provision.
We extend our thanks to our partners, donors, and volunteers who make our work possible. Together, we are creating a brighter future for the communities we serve.
Looking Ahead
We remain committed to expanding the reach of our programs. Plans for the upcoming year include increasing access to healthcare, advancing our education initiatives, and further empowering women and youth.
