Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or service8 identified in the accounts, P8r• 1,17 and 1.19 In line wlth our charltable purposes, our core actfvlty remains the care and rehabllltatlon of wlld anlmals with the ultlmate alm of returning them to thelr natural habitat5. Over the past vear, we admitted and treated approxlmately 2,000 wlld anlmals, a number that has doubled over the last decade, demonstrating both Increased demand and cornmunlty reliance on our services. Animals are brought to us by members of the publlc and local veterlnary practlces, reflecting our integral role in wildlife care withln the region. Each case is assessed and treated by our experienced team, with tailored rehabilitation plans to give each animal the best chance of survival and successful relntroduction into the wild. Our facilities include: A woodland rehabllltation area equipped with aviaries to prepare birds for release. Three waterfowl pools, which are Increasingly important given the rlsing number of duckling and swan admissions. A speclallst hedgehog rehabllltatlon shed, providing a quiet and controlled environment for one of the UK'S most vulnerable species. Two hospltal rooms, a treatment room, and a receptlon area, forming the operational core of the centre and allowing for effective triage and medlcal care. The centre operates seven days a week, staffed by two permanent employees supported by an Invaluable team of dedluted volunteers, whose commltment and compasslon underpln the success of our work. In the past year alone, the centre admitted a total of 1,766 anlmals, reflecting both the growing need for its services and the trust placed in its expert care. One of the standout successes was the flrst-ever successful rearln8 of Goosander chlcks at the centre, after their mother was tragically killed on a dual carrlageway. This achlevement highllghts the charity's dedlcatlon and speciallst skills in givlng vulnerable wildlife a second chance. Fundralsing efforts were bolstered by being chosen as Confuzzled's Charlty of the Year, ralslng an Impresslve £37,000 durlng thelr conventlon weekend. Addittonal funding Included a £2,500 grant from Anlmal Frlends Insurance ,£500 from Vlstry, and we were awarded £IOOO from Movement for 8ood cause which dlrectly supported the construction of a much-needed new waterfowl rehabllltailon enclosure, each wlth indivldual pools. This new facillty15 especially Important given the rlsing number of duckllng admlssions, whlch now exceed 200 annually.
