Governance

Policies

The charity has managed to put in place the following policies:

The Charity is administered on the today to day basis by the church main board which comprises the chairman (Pastor) vice chair, secretary, administrator and three committee members. The BOT oversees the work of the Main Board mainly focusing on the policy implementation, design and adherence otherwise compliance. The BOT makes sure that the charity is run professionally in accordance with the Laws of the country, following the dictates of the charities (Act 2016).

The Charity exists and has strong links and bonds with other similar charities, with similar aims & objectives under the national umbrella of AFMIM UK. The charity also has a good working relationship with other likeminded charity organisations like the Derby City Mission LTD.

Risks & Challenges

During the reporting period the major challenge facing the charity is Covid19. Since March 2021, we have not managed to gather and do most of the activities we used to do like conferences, family day, retreats, etc.

Due to the diverse nature of charities' activities they are exposed to various risks on a daily basis. The risks faced by individual charities often depend on services offered, activities undertaken, and funding earned, many smaller charities overlook risk management as a resource-drain in the effective running of the organisation.

Since we lightly depend on gifts and donations from embers and the public at large, the economic situation facing many people in the country due to the Covid19 pandemic does not elude us. Most of our members have lost jobs or working opportunities were drastically reduced. When economic conditions are difficult the trend is people are reluctant to give.

Decline in funding and donations

Due to the economic stress caused by the pandemic, meaning that a downturn in the economy can pose a real risk to charities. Our revenue streams have declined quite significantly.

Damage to reputation

Reputational damage is one of the most risks Charities can face, and this tarnishes the good work the Charities are doing in the country. Derby Rauch is not immune to this kind of risk, it can be managed by exercising great transparency and accountability. Accusations of foul play by a charity's executive i.e. misuse of charity funds and other resources can damage the social and financial standing of the charity in the community of its members and the public.

If the Charity Commission takes a very skeptical view on payments made from charities this can bring about unnecessary attention or scrutiny. While executives and funding of certain activities are entitled to have their expenses paid, unlawful payments can result in personal liability for the executives or lay workers involved. It's vital that accounts are kept up to date, submitted to the commission on time and records of expenses are transparent.

Damage to equipment

Our equipment faces high levels of depreciation rate and break down due to constant moving as we don't have a place of our own, hence we are actively looking for our own place of worship.

Human and Skills set capacity

The Charity is now manned by experienced and committed lay workers, with one full time employed member of staff.

Accountability and transparency

Like any other charity, issues of accountability and transparency are a challenge, but the charity will be up to the task, whereby we will strongly encourage these high standards to be met and adhered to through a robust reporting and accountability system.

Milestones (activities)

Under the review period the charity has managed to successfully conduct the following activities.

1. Wind and Fire Conference (local revival)

The wind and fire conference which is a local event was conducted with high standard organisational ability. A cross sectional number of conference facilitators was invited to deliver preaching and teaching taking note of age groups and abilities ie youths, Sunday school and adults.

2. Regional, National Youth & Women, General Conferences

These conferences were conducted online the charity had to make some donation for their hosting and preparation as shown in the financials. Our charity also actively participated financially in making these conferences happen Most of the funds were donated to the National place of worship cause.

PROJECTS

1. Zimbabwe Children Welfare

Due to the dwindling resources partly caused by the pandemic this project has been scaled down quite significantly. We are only concentrating on educational, and welfare needs for two children.

2. Building fund project (local)

We are highly engaged in raising resources to acquire our own place of worship. Once this place has been acquired the church and the community will benefit in that all the church activities and other community activities will be housed there.

3. Food bank

Due to the Convid19 pandemic this project has been suspended.

No investments have been made so far (we currently actively pursuing some possibilities)

The Management and Board of Trustees of Apostolic Faith Mission Derby Ruach Assembly who are registered as a charity, appointed me to independently examine their trustees' report, financial reports and the accompanying notes.

Responsibilities of Management and Board of Trustees

My Responsibility

To carry out procedures such as analytical reviews, comparing the published reports to the financial records kept by the charity and enquiring from those tasked with the governance of the charity any matters that need clarity.

I also considered the disclosures of material facts in the financial reports and the going concern of the charity.

The nature and extent of my examination did not provide appropriate and adequate audit evidence and therefore no audit opinion is provided in this report.

For the year ended 31 March 2021 the charity was entitled to exemption from audit under Sec 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

• The members have not required the charity to obtain an audit of its accounts for the year in question in accordance with Sec 476.

• The Trustees acknowledge their responsibility for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and preparation of Accounts. These Accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the Small Companies regime.

  1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

The principal accounting policies, all of which have applied consistently throughout the year, are set out below.

These accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention with items recognised at cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant note(s) to these accounts.

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with:

• and with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) issued on March 2018

• and with the Charities Act 2011.

The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102.

Apostolic faith Mission IM(UK) Derby Assembly is still in operation as a going concern

Unrestricted funds are general funds that are available for use at the trustees' discretion in furtherance of the objectives of the charity. Restricted funds are those donated for use in a particular area or for specific purposes, the use of which is restricted to that area or purpose.

Voluntary income, including donations, gifts and legacies and grants that provide core funding or are of a general nature, are recognised where there is entitlement, certainty of receipt and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability.

Investment income is recognised on a receivable basis,

Income from charitable activities includes income recognised as earned (as the related goods or services are provided) under contract where there is entitlement, certainty of receipt and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability.

Expenditure is recognised when a liability is incurred. Funding provided through contractual agreements and performance related grants are recognised as goods or services supplied.

Other grant payments costs of generating funds are those costs incurred in attracting voluntary income, and those incurred in trading activities that raise funds.

Governance costs include those incurred in the governance of its assets and are primarily associated with constitutional and statutory requirements.

Support costs include central functions and have been allocated to activity cost categories on a basis consistent with the use of resources, e.g. allocating office property costs by floor areas, management and human resources costs by the number of staff, and finance and IT costs by work done.

Donated goods are recognised in different ways dependent on how they are used by the charity;

b. Those donated for onward transmission to beneficiaries (chiefly clothing, food and medical supplies) are included in the statement of financial activities as incoming resources and resources expended when they are distributed. They are valued at the amount the charity would have had to pay to acquire them.

The charity has not received any goods for use by the charity itself. The value of services provided by volunteers is not incorporated into these financial statements. Where services are provided to the charity as a donation that would normally be purchased from our suppliers this contribution is included in the financial statements at an estimate based on the value of the contribution to the charity.
