NORFOLK CBA TRUSTEES REPORT MAY 2021
Despite the Covid pandemic which has meant Bridge Clubs had to stop having live competitions we have managed to introduce on-line Bridge to many of our members. It is expected that this will continue to some degree even when Face To Face play at Clubs resumes.
Because of the on-line facility we were able to run our Norfolk Congress jointly with Cumbria and although it had reduced numbers attending it was generally regarded as a successful alternative. It is planned to run the next Congress as a similar joint venture.
Due to determined efforts by some of our Trustees, who organized instruction in on-line play and provided competitive events on-line, some players have taken part in matches against other Counties which they would not otherwise have been able to do. Other players have appreciated being able to continue their love of the game despite not being able to go to their Club to play.
Clubs in the County followed our initiative of providing on-line events and league competitions. In addition the County held some of its Trophy competitions on-line.
To encourage new players to the game our website has details of Clubs where teaching is available and specific courses can be found for different levels of players. Some of these courses are now available on-line.
On-line Bridge has been a boost to people who have not been able to go to Clubs or did not want to travel or did not want to go out at nights.
