FRIENDS OF BRENT MUSIC SERVICE. (Charity Number: 1171792) REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 30th JUNE 2022

Financial Statements

The trustees present their report along with the financial statements of the charity for the period ended 30th June 2022. The financial statements have been prepared based on the accounting policies set out on page 6 and comply with the charity's trust deed and applicable law.

Constitution and Objects.

Friends of Brent Music Service is a voluntary organisation registered as a charity having a trust deed as its governing document. The Trust deed defines the charity's objects as being: To promote, maintain and advance education by the encouragement of the arts, particularly music, for the public benefit by supporting the provision of activities available through Brent Music Service (BMS).

Trustees and organisational structure

The trustees who held office during the Financial Period and at the date of this report are set out on page 3. No trustees received any remuneration or benefits from the charity during the Period. Trustees are appointed by resolution passed at the trustees meeting called under (clause 12 of) the governing document. The trust deed allows for a minimum of three trustees to be appointed.

Results, Review of the Period and Future developments:

The results of the Period are set out in the Statement of Financial Activities on pages 4 and 5.

The ongoing impact of the Covid pandemic in the UK meant that activities of the charity were effectively suspended through this accounting period with only one donation plus ongoing trickle income and only bank charges as expenditure. The charity received income of £476.52 in the Period with bank charge expenses at £96.00 .

The activity currently carried out by the charity is making donations to Brent Music service (BMS) on the understanding that donations will be used broadly as agreed between the charity and BMS and that BMS will report back to the charity on their application.

Donations policy

The trustees consider donations an effective means of delivering its objective through Brent Music Service as BMS have access to facilities, expertise, staff or other resources and better placed to deliver services speedily and effectively.

Plans for the future.

The Trustees’ expectation is that there will be ongoing funding challenges in England for Music education hubs, associated music services and that the need for additional support and fundraising for BMS will continue for the foreseeable future.
