## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

Despite navigating through the tumultuous waters of the COVID-19 pandemic, a cost-of-living crisis, inflation, and the war in Ukraine, our organization has emerged stronger than ever. Thanks to our steadfast commitment and the overwhelming support of our community, we've not only weathered the storm but thrived. By tightening our belts and managing expenses wisely, we've achieved a remarkable reduction in expenditures compared to the previous year.

This newfound financial stability isn't just about survival—it's about growth. With our reserve fund in place, we're not only staying true to our mission but also paving the way for exciting program expansions. The future holds limitless possibilities, and we're poised to make an even greater impact than ever before.

Our community's generosity knows no bounds; increased volunteer recruitment and generous in-kind donations have been instrumental in our success. Together, we've built a reserve fund, fortifying our financial foundation and ensuring we're ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.

## **YOUTH ON THE MOVE OBJECTIVES**

Empower young disadvantaged women aged 11 to 16 facing barriers to out-of-school activities, ensuring inclusivity despite challenges they may encounter.

Strategically grow and sustain projects, aligning activities with the organization's capacity to ensure long-term impact.

Engage participants in codesigning programs tailored to their preferences, maximizing both enjoyment and personal development.

Uphold high standards of program quality and participant well-being through comprehensive policies, procedures, and ongoing training for trustees, staff, and volunteers.

Prioritize ongoing participation and input from participants in decisionmaking processes, fostering a sense of ownership and agency.

Foster a culture of communication and collaboration by actively seeking feedback from stakeholders, maintaining connections with users, and remaining engaged with the broader community.

Transform aspirations into reality by offering diverse, stimulating, and healthenhancing activities that bolster leisure skills and future prospects.

4

## **THE NEED FOR OUR SERVICES**

Young individuals hailing from low-income households often encounter obstacles that hinder their trajectory towards a promising future.

- In Hackney, child poverty rates soar at a staggering 28%, with a notable portion of Youth on the Move's users adding to this concerning statistic.

- The scarcity of adequate housing and private recreational spaces exacerbates stress, anxiety, and behavioral challenges among these youth.

Youth on the Move is on a mission to facilitate the transition of young people into adulthood, empowering them to cultivate independence, unlock their potential, and shatter the cycle of poverty and adversity.

5

## **ACTIVITIES**

Through our therapeutic and extracurricular initiatives, we provide young individuals, even those affected by poverty and its constraints, with the opportunity to cultivate essential life and career skills. Our aim is to empower them to embrace a future brimming with possibilities and to face it with unwavering confidence.

## **PLAY POWER**

## **IMPACT**

The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive. The young women were delighted with the wide array of activities, and their parents and teachers reported on the great transformations that ensued. The young participants became more confident, positive individuals with strengthened personal resilience, empowering them to embrace challenges and growth without fear.

The **Play Power Project** resulted in heightened community cohesion, refined social and interpersonal skills, boosted emotional well-being, empowerment, and the cultivation of new talents and abilities.

The **Sport-a-Way and Water Wow Projects** broadened horizons, encouraging exploration and discovery, while promoting health and well-being. They also served to strengthen teamworking abilities and social skills, fostering meaningful connections and the formation of new friendships.

The **"Young and Wealthy"** project has successfully transformed the lives of disadvantaged youth in Hackney and Haringey, providing them with essential financial skills through an ATHE Level 2 certificate course.

10

## **FUTURE PLANS**

Persistently broaden our projects and services to align with the changing preferences and needs of our user base.

Implement strategies to secure financial stability by exploring and cultivating diverse funding streams, reducing reliance on any single source.

Take proactive measures to counteract the detrimental effects of deprivation by providing targeted support to disadvantaged youth. By collaborating closely with generous partners, we aim to address their immediate needs and create sustainable solutions for long-term positive impact.
