Trustees Report for the year 2022
Charity Name – HALL ON THE GREEN (HOTG) Registered Charity Number – 1171762
Trustees – Ian Christopher Tulloch Kenneth William Barden David Kazimierz Wojcik
Structure
The Charity has three trustees that are recruited on a voluntary basis from the committee members of the Allens Green Association. The Charity works closely with the Association with regard all financial aspects of the village hall.
Background
The initial objective for the Charity was to purchase the Village Hall. This was achieved in May 2018. The Hall was purchase from Hertfordshire County Council for £25,000. The money was raised with support from two Stansted Airport charities, High Wych Parish Council and two local businesses. But majority of the funds came from generous donations from residents. Support for the bid was received from several local county councillors and from the local Member of Parliament. The private donations attracted Gift Aid of £3,875. The community are benefiting from the continued use of the village hall as a valued community asset.
The ongoing objective of the Charity is to support the maintenance and improvement of the hall with financial contributions.
Activities for the year
During 2022 a restart grant of £8,000 (received in 2021) enabled us to refurbish the main hall. The kitchen was refurbished thanks to a grant of £5,800 from East Herts District Council. The Village Hall received a grant from High Wych Parish Council of £1,000. The Allens Green Association committee agreed that this should be used to insulate and refurbish the main entrance corridor, the cloakroom, and the side passage next to the hall. This work was well advanced by the end of 2022. The work has continued during 2023 but further funds will be required to complete the project.
Financial Summary
The £5,800 grant from East Herts District Council was paid into the HOTG account which was then transferred to the village hall account. The High Wych grant was paid directly to the Allens Green Village Hall Account so it could be used for the project work. The charity had a bank balance of £126 on 31[st] December 2022.
