Chairmans Report The last season has seen some exciting changes at the Court House, as the long awaited building works have started and should soon be completed. This is all after several years delay from the insurance company and the underpinning and rebuilding of the west wall is without doubt the largest building work the museum has seen since opening in 1966 !

Because of the work the opening season was shorter last year, but we still managed to attract nearly three thousand visitors – exhibitions on Pevensey Cattle Market and new display boards downstairs – we also broke our record for people visiting on one day when some local ‘smugglers’ visited the cells on August Bank Holiday Sunday !

In a new venture there is now an ‘info shed’ in the middle car park with boards for advertising local events, and fulfilling the need for local information as there is no other point in the village which acts as a centre for visitors to see what is going on locally.
