Treasurerfs Report- Financial Year 2022 l am pleased to say with the easing of Covid restrictions normal activities resumed in 2022. The society was able to provide a full programme of talks at the Hillcrest Centre. The Newhaven Museum opened in April closing at the end of October for the winter. The society was represented at the Denton Challenge and the RNLI fete. Income from museum admissions and sales, Hillcrest talks and a small profit from the sale of the Newhaven Times have helped to offset the cost of continuing museum maintenance and refurbishment and the expensive and time-consuming museum artifact preservation work which is ongoing. A) Current Financial Position: (Financi(Jl accountsforyear attached) The Newhaven Historical Society accounts for 2022 has been signed off by our examiner. Excess of expenditure over income forthe financial year was (654.27). This loss was mainly due to the cost of the continued improvements made to the museum. HSBC the society's bank has now introduced bank charges and it should be noted that the museum utilities cost (electricity) has increased significantly. Extraordinary Expenses: The society donated £200 to the British Red Cross Ukrainian appeal. £110.65 was spent on children's activities in the museum for the Queen's jubilee. Brochures for forth coming talks at the Hillcrest Centre cost £140. c) Newhaven Times: Revenue from the sale of our journal the Newhaven Times was £868 in 2022. This is partly due to Dees News selling the journal on our behalf. Special mention: A thank you to Dees News for their continued support in selling the Newhaven Times on our behalf. Special thanks to Bryan Berry for his donation of £500. Many thanks to our Accounts Examiner, Mr Tony Richardson, who again completed the examination of the societvs accounts.
