The obiett of the th4rty is to educate the publlc In the hlstory of Newhaven and the surroundln8 area.
Actlvlty durln8 the period was severely affected ￿ restrictions related to the Covld19 pandemlc. However, the
object was achleved by maintainln8 the Newhaven Museum located at Paradise Park Newhaven, holdin8 I lecture
on local history open to members and the public. and responding to numerous enquiries, receNed elettronically,
about local history from members of the public. Considerable work was undertaken ￿furbi5hlng the receptM)n area
of the museum. cataloguing and conserving artefacts and documents. and refreshin8 museum displays during its
closure. The trustees have had regard to the guidance i55ued by the Charity Commission on public benefft.
The charlty is entirety run by volunteer5 as trustees and steward5 at the museum.
The charity has a small reser¥e of L £5,0(K) to cover future unseen contin8encSes such as having to vacate the
museum premises.
The chariVs principal sources of funds are members subscriptions. rnuseum and lecture admission fees. sales of
books etc and donations from indNiduals and local organisations. During the period a 5ubstsntlal 8overnment grant
was received to compensate for the loss of income due to the museum's closure.
