Accounts

1[st] May 2023 – 30[th] April 2024

TAARC, a registered charity since 2017, is dedicated to supporting the local community in Telford and Wrekin (T&W). Our activities and events cater to people of all ages, including children, young people, adults, and the elderly, while contributing to T&W’s social value and local priorities. A key focus of our work is promoting awareness of African and Afro-Caribbean history and culture. We achieve this by organising social events, participating in community and advisory panels, and offering seminars, mentorship programs, and workshops in schools. Through these efforts, we promote harmony within T&W’s increasingly diverse population and strengthen community cohesion.

TAARC has developed and established relationships, working in partnership with various businesses, organisations and community providers, including:

As a volunteer-led organisation with no paid staff, TAARC relies entirely on voluntary contributions to make a meaningful impact in fostering participation, integration, and unity.

Our statement of income and expenditure is displayed in the charts and graph overleaf.

Financial year 2022 – 2023

TAARC has enjoyed another successful year, reaching the community through innovative new activities while continuing to deliver our much-loved weekly, monthly, and annual events. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our supporters, sponsors, and volunteers for their unwavering commitment, which has been vital to our success.

Thanks to grant funding from The Church Urban Fund (Windrush 75), we delivered several impactful events for the Windrush community, benefiting the people of Telford and the surrounding areas. With this funding, we were able to organize the following:

West Mercia Grant

This grant supported continued community engagement, including our annual Black History Month celebration. This flagship event has been a tremendous success,
