Weeke Community Centre was registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on 13th February 2017, registration number 1171579. On incorporation the Charity received the assets and liabilities of the former Weeke Community Association by way of a transfer agreement. Trustees are invited by existing trustees to serve on the trustee board. Prospective trustees are selected with reference to their particular skills to ensure the board has an appropriate mix of skills within its membership. ## **Objects** The Charity’s objects as set out in its governing document are to provide activities and services to people on the Weeke estate and in the surrounding neighbourhoods. Its aims are to advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation. The Charity manages and maintains facilities for a wide range of user groups. ## **Activities in the period** This year we saw normality resume after COVID. We saw an increase in one off hires for parties. Many people looking to meet again with friends and family. We took on new long-term hirers – the Ukrainian toddler group, parenting courses, exercise classes, arts and craft groups, auction in a day. As a community centre we held more community events than ever which include but not limited to: WI bowling tournaments, comedy cabaret, Weeke Weekend, Wrestling event, Chairty horse racing nights, tabletop sale, family movie nights, charity quiz night, ping pong tournament. We saw the start of our own kids club ran by more volunteers every Saturday morning. Bingo on Tuesday night was launched and grew in numbers along with our Monday social. We carried out an some major improvements works on our entrance and car park. Along with a re-decoration of our main hall. ## **Public benefit** The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit when planning the Charity’s activities. ## **Volunteers** With hire charges for the centre’s facilities covering only basic establishment running costs and with no other financial support available for the running of the centre, the Charity was heavily reliant on its team of volunteers. The trustees are grateful for the assistance that has been provided during the period. ## **Reserves** The trustees have determined that the Charity should seek to maintain a level of general unrestricted equivalent to 2 months of budgeted running costs. The holding of free reserves is to enable the Charity to continue to meet financial obligations as they fall due should income fall significantly behind budget. The level of free reserves should be reviewed at least quarterly against the policy. In addition, on an annual basis the optimal level of free reserves should be reassessed.
