The last 12 months have been challenging for all sports in terms of participation in the adult game, research is showing a fall in the number of Adult players across rugby union in particular Males.  COVID has seen them discover other health and life opportunities and as a result whilst players want to play they do not want to commit on a regular basis. Despite this the clubs in Manchester have maintained the number of teams they field on a regular basis with the help and support of MRUDG. MRUDG has continued with it’s more targeted approach within schools. COVID made it extremely difficult until recently to engage in much Face to Face delivery.  However, schools are starting to be more receptive to allowing outside organisations to deliver in Curriculum time. MRUDG has delivered teacher continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities, this makes curriculum delivery more sustainable.  It is the intention to progress this model in 2023. **Summary of the main** The charity continues to be engaged in the delivery of the city council’s **activities undertaken for the** Holiday programme as well as being involved in local community events **public benefit in relation to** e.g. The Wythenshawe Games. The Charity over the last 12 months has delivered on the Manchester Holiday Activity programme which provides activity as well as a nutritious meal as the target audience is those children who are on Free School meals and from Vulnerable families.  It is a useful addition to the Charity’s work in that it is helping to address the issue of Child/Hunger/Poverty which is high on the Government’s agenda. **Public benefit** The trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the aims and objectives and when planning future activities. 

Section D                      Achievements and performance Rugby has continued to be delivered in School’s on a reduced basis with **Summary of the main** some schools still reluctant to allow outside coaches into schools.  There **achievements of the charity** has also been a significant drop off in the availability of casual coaches **during the year** which has made delivery difficult.  The group is currently looking to run a RFU coaching course in Manchester as a priority. The partnership between the Charity and the Rugby Football Union has changed in that the RFU no longer support the RFU structure in Manchester due to budget pressures.  It is however the wish of the city

council that the group continues to support the clubs and educational establishments in Manchester this will continue for the foreseeable future with more of an emphasis on transitioning players into clubs as opposed to blanket delivery. 

The Charity continues to provide support Wythenshawe Community Rugby Union Football Club. Over the last 12 months work has been ongoing to find a more permanent home for the club, positive discussions have taken place with a local football club and MCC’s parks department and there is agreement to locate the club at Painswick Park in Wythenshawe with two pitches.  The past 12 months has seen the club develop from it’s new base and the junior section is starting to grow 

As a result of the charity’s work there has been a growth of the number of teams at clubs in Manchester, this is contrary to the national trend for participation in team sports. 

Through funding received from Sport England’s This Girl Can project the charity continues to work with clubs to grow the Women and Girls game in the city.  The impact has been significant with four new junior teams being developed at local clubs.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 30/06/2022. 

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
