## **Structure, governance and management**

Booth Charitable Foundation has 3 trustees who work together on the decision making process for which charities should benefit from donations.

Since registration on 8[th] February 2017 grant requests have been received by email, post or have been locally selected by the trustees.

On receipt of all grant or funding requests all 3 trustees consider if the request falls within the scope of the charity (see objectives below). The amount of grant awarded is at the discretion and agreement of the trustees.

## **Objectives and activities**

## **Arts at the Old Firestation**

This is an arts centre and that delivers a volunteering scheme which includes people facing homelessness or isolation. One of their long-time volunteers was no longer able to reach them due to disability – this person uses a wheelchair but due to road closures they could no longer travel to their volunteering shifts via bus. This person needs to use a specialist taxi service (due to the size of their wheelchair) which the Old Firestation could not fund themselves.

The volunteer was very isolated, and volunteering is one of the few activities they can do to connect them with a community and offer that all important sense of purpose of joy. The Booth Foundation provided a grant of £500 to enable the volunteer to continue being part of this community.

**Foxies Future** was set up as a charity following Girlguiding UK’s decision to close and sell the Foxlease Activity Centre. This centre provides campsites for youth groups, schools and other societies such as the Girl Guides, Duke of Edinburgh expedition groups and Scouts and this facility was threatened with closure. The charity needed to raise over £4 million in order to buy the site and completed the purchase in Nov 2024. We provided a donation of £500 from the Booth Foundation to help support the purchase.

## **Outlook for 2025**

One of the main aims is to support local organisations and the trustees will continue to review all requests for donations accordingly.

## **Financial review**

The charity had no assets or known liabilities at the period end.

During 2024 the charity spent £1,000 on 2 grant awards as listed previously. The charity incurred bank charges and website costs of £595.05 during the period, there were no other expenses. No further income or expenditure was made during 2024.

No funds were or are held as a custodian on behalf of others.

## **Public benefit statement**
