The Trustees of Booth Charitable Foundation CIO present this annual report, covering the period between 1[st] January 2022 and 31st December 2022 (‘the period’).
## **Reference and administrative details**
The charity, Booth Charitable Foundation, is a charitable incorporated organisation which was registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales on 8[th] February 2017. The charity’s registration number is 1171530. The charity does not have any offices or other premises; its public address is c/o The Royal Adelaide Hotel, Windsor, Berks SL4 2AG

## **Structure, governance and management**
Booth Charitable Foundation has 3 trustees who work together on the decision making process for which charities should benefit from donations.
Since registration on 8[th] February 2017 grant requests have been received by email, post or have been locally selected by the trustees.
On receipt of all grant or funding requests all 3 trustees consider if the request falls within the scope of the charity (see objectives below). The amount of grant awarded is at the discretion and agreement of the trustees.

All income will be received by way of personal donations from Elaine & Martyn Booth (trustees) plus any payments received via Gift Aid.
## **Objectives and activities**
The objects of the CIO are:
- The relief of those in need because of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage in particular, but not exclusively in the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.
- The advancement of the arts, culture and heritage for the benefit of the public, but not exclusively, in the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.
- The advancement of health for the benefit of the public, but not exclusively in the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.
- The advancement of such other exclusively charitable purposes (according to the law of England and Wales) as the trustees see fit from time to time in particular, but not exclusively in the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.

During the period, there were 3 grants awarded.
## **Tudor House for gentlefolk of limited means £3000**
This is a very small charity in financial terms, although the property it occupies is large and rambling, and expensive to maintain. The charity continues to raise funds to maintain the building for its residents to ensure the building could continue to provide homes for those in need. The trustees agreed that a grant of £3000 should be offered to continue the essential work required on rebuilding a wall that had collapsed into the garden.

## **G11 Community Hub £1000**
The Booth Charitable Foundation supported the GL11 Community Hub in 2018 as we thought it was such a great organization. It really is there for everybody. Their aim is to bring people together and to help them make connections with each other. They believe that this will create a stronger community where everyone feels included. So when they approached us again for a donation we knew that we had to help.
Their mission is to support all local residents to connect, develop and gain confidence and inspiration by providing a springboard for opportunities to create an economically and socially thriving local community. They hold a packed programme of activities Mon-Fri which are completely relevant to the local community. The volunteers and staff are totally committed to helping, supporting and caring for their members.
## **Gloucestershire Academy of Music Barbican House Appeal £1000**
GAM has been inspiring people through music for forty years. They have an excellent reputation for being welcoming, friendly and accessible. They wanted to create a permanent home by buying Barbican House and increasing accessibility as part of that process and launched an appeal to raise £500,000 in 2022 which the trustees were keen to support.
## **Outlook for 2023**
One of the main aims is to support local organisations and as a result the trustees have become involved in a local charity aimed at purchasing a church that came up for sale in the village of Winchcombe. The Winchcombe Arts & Community Hub (WACH) was created in order to raise funds for the purchase and redevelopment of this lovely building into a safe, versatile and dynamic hub that fosters creativity, inclusivity and community spirit.
## **Financial review**
The charity had no assets or known liabilities at the period end.
During 2022 the charity spent £5000 on 3 grant awards as listed previously. The charity incurred bank charges of £361 during the period and £114 on IT support, there were no other expenses. No further income or expenditure was made during 2022.
No funds were or are held as a custodian on behalf of others.
