Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity for the Year APRIL 2021 to MARCH 2022

• In the period from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022, we ran three weekly volunteering sessions cultivating three allotment plots, one more session a week compared to the previous year. The additional session was organised to grow extra produce on our third plot for the Fareshare e-bike project that ran from March to November 2021.

• We received funding from Sussex Community Foundation, National Lottery Awards for All, Enjoolat Foundation, Lennox Hannay Charitable Trust and Chalkhill Community Trust fund.

• This year we operated under lighter Covid 19 pandemic restrictions on the plot with our session number restricted to 10 including our session supervisor to ensure the safety of our volunteers and anyone working on neighbouring plots.

• Our e-bike project was a partnership project with FareShare Brighton to test sustainable delivery. We grew produce and they distributed it using an e-bike and delivered it to 18 different community food outlets and food banks.

• We received plenty of volunteer support with a core group of five volunteers at most sessions and almost all sessions had the full complement of 9 volunteers.

• We continued to work with the Active student team to host students from University of Brighton on 30 hour community placements.

• The project took its usual winter break from Mid December to end January 2021

• We continued to work as part of Brighton and Hove Food Partnership and are represented on the Moulsecoomb Allotments Committee.

• We grew vegetables on our plots to the approximate retail value of £5000. In addition we add value by delivering produce to food banks as and when they need it as few

have storage facilities for fresh vegetables. Without our donations many food bank users would receive no fresh vegetables with their food parcel. In addition our volunteers often use their new produce growing skills at home and some go on to study horticulture.
