## **Achievements and Performance**

This review is for the year ended 31 [st]
March 2022.
Summary of the main During April 2021 we were able to

Garden Scheme Open Day which is

The Bodgers group reopened in May
and has met weekly. It was attended
by an average of 15 regular people,
most of whom are retired. The
participants benefitted from the social
contact and the opportunity to learn
natural wood working skills. The
Bodgers is part of the Kent Sheds, a
network of collaboration and support
for Sheds projects across Kent.
A spoon carving group has also been
meeting weekly, attended by an
average of 5 people.
We worked in partnership with 3 local
organisations during the year:
We offered the use of the garden
space as a satellite site for Café
Revival (East Kent Mind) for their
mental health and wellbeing peer
support group gatherings (MenTalk,
Women’s Wellness). We received very
positive feedback from the
participants as the garden provided a
safe and welcoming space for the
group to meet in a confidential and
beautiful setting.
We co-produced a series of ‘Zest in
the Garden’ sessions run by
Brightshadow, the dementia support
charity. Zest creative sessions for
people living with dementia are
mood-boosting, invigorating events

which are shown to enhance quality
of life. These high-quality
participatory activities, led by
professional artists, brought life,
energy and fun to individuals in the
garden setting and proved to be a
safe, affirming and exciting way in
which to celebrate dementia culture.
We worked with St Nicholas School in
Canterbury to organise and run
weekly gardening work experience
sessions for a select group of young
people with special educational needs and
disabilities (SEND).
We were able to run all the above
activities with confidence owing to a
significant increase in the number of
core volunteers who signed up to
support Stream Walk post lockdown.
Volunteers have reported feeling
more a part of the community and
pleased to be learning new skills,
particularly in relation to food growing
and harvesting, wildlife gardening,
pruning and supporting groups
including activities for children.
