||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|This review is for the year ended 31stMarch
2021.
During the entire period the garden was either
closed or the numbers of volunteers severely
limited due to Covid restrictions.
This included the National Garden Scheme
Open Day which in a normal year is one of the
garden’s major fundraising events. The garden
was included in the June 2021 NGS Open Day
with considerable success both in terms of the
number of visitors and the funds raised.
The Children’s group, normally attended by
between 5 and 25 families on a weekly basis,
had to remain closed throughout the year
because of the restrictions. This has been
relaunched during 2021 and is again a thriving
local resource with demand each week
exceeding the garden’s current capacity.|

The Bodgers group met weekly when allowed to do by the restrictions. It was attended by an average of 15 regular people, many of whom are retired. The participants Beneffited from the social contact and learn natural wood working skills. The Bodgers is part of the Kent Sheds, a network of collaboration and support for Sheds projects across Kent. A spoon carving group has also been meeting weekly, attended by an average of 5 people. Finally, one of the casualties of the restrictions was the cancelling or postponement of our programme of workshops. It is planned to relaunch these workshops in 2022.
