Objectives and Activities
John Rankin PTFA exists to support and enhance the educational experience of all
students at John Rankin Schools through fundraising. community engagement, and
direct financial support for school initiatives. The charity seeks to foster strong
partnerships between parents. teachers, and the wider community.
The charity's aims for the public benefit are carried out by raising funds to provide
educational resources, support wellbeing, and create inclusive opportunities that
benefit the children of John Rankin Schools.
Achievements and Performance
During the year, the PTFA organised a range of successful fundraising events including
Bonfire Night. the Christmas Bazaar, discos. a Colour Run, and other initiatives such as
Bag2School and Christmas cards. These generated a total income of £28.360, an
increase from £27.320 in the previous year.
Expenditure for the period was £8.596, reflecting increased investment in event
infrastructure, notably a new speaker system to enhance event experiences. Despite
lower income from the Colour Run due to bad weather and a scheduling clash with the
UEFA EURO 2024 quarter-finats. most events performed strongly.
A total of £22,Tn was granted to the school this year, up significantly from £7.381 last
year. Funds were used to support key projects including:
Shelving and storage units for"Imagine If" areas (KS1)
OPAL play equipment to promote physical activity
Nurture room resources supporting social and emotionalwellbeing

Ring-fenced funds: £5.981 for future commitments (sports clothing, outdoor library,
horsebox coffee shop)
We are maintaining healthy reserves and financial resilience. A core reserve of £3,000 is
retained for operating expenses and float requirements to ensure smooth delivery of
future events and activities.
Reserves Pollcy
The PTFA maintains a prudent reserves policy to ensure operationsl stability and
continuity of charitable sctivities. A minimum of £3,000 is retained to meet future event
costs and unforeseen expenses. Remaining reserves are directed toward planned
projects that align with our charit8ble objectives.
Structure, Governance and Management
The PTFA is a r8gi8tered charity governed by a constitution adopted in accordance with
Charity Commission guidance. The charity 18 run by a committee of trustees who are
either elected or co-opted according to the constitution. All trustees are volunteers and
receive no remuneration.

The trustees meet regularlyto review finances, plan fundraising activities, approve

Public Benefit
In exercising their duties, the trustees have complied with their duty under Section 17 of
the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to public benefit guidance issued by the
Charity Commission. All funds raised are directed to improving the educational and
social environment of the children at John Rankin Schools.
