Activities
Provision of specialist social work services and family research for former child migrants from the UK, to help reclaim their personal identity and reunite with family; Promotion of human rights and restorative justice relating to the treatment of former child migrants; Raising awareness to public understanding of the history of child migration and its implications. Operating in UK and Australia.
Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are, For The Public Benefit:-4.1 The Protection, Promotion And Preservation Of The Mental Health Of Former Child Migrants And Their Families;4.2 The Advancement Of Education And Raising Awareness Of The Public In General In Relation To The Extent, Operation, Consequences And Administration Of Child Migration Schemes (Including Similar Schemes By Which Children Have Been Separated From Their Families) And To Promote Research For The Public Benefit On The Subject Of Child Migrants And Child Migration Schemes And To Publish The Useful Results; And4.3 The Promotion Of Human Rights And Restorative Justice In Accordance With The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights And Subsequent United Nations Conventions And Declarations, Specifically Relating To The Treatment Of Former Child Migrants And Their Families. In Furtherance Of This Object 4.3 But Not Otherwise, The Charity Trustees Shall Have The Power To Engage In Occasional Political Activity Provided That The Charity Trustees Are Satisfied That The Proposed Activities Will Further The Purposes Of The CIO To An Extent Justified By The Resources Committed And The Activity Is Not The Dominant Means By Which The CIO Carries Out The Objects.for The Purposes Of This Clause, “Child Migrants” Means British Children Sent From The United Kingdom Without A Parent By Voluntary Child Care Agencies To Australia, New Zealand, The Former Rhodesia Or Canada On A Permanent Basis Before 1971 And “Child Migrant Scheme” Refers To The Practice And Policy, With Subsidies Under The Empire Settlement Act 1992 Of Allowing Voluntary Child Care Agencies To Send British Child Migrants To Australia, New Zealand, The Former Rhodesia Or Canada On A Permanent Basis Without A Parent Before 1971.
