Objectives and Activities

The objects for which the CIO is established are to promote the objects of the Riding for the Disabled Association incorporating Carriage Driving a charity registered under charity number 244108 ("RDA") by providing disabled people with the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and well- being in the Carmarthenshire and wider area.

Structure, Governance and Management

The Group is managed by the Charity Trustees, which comprise of a chairman, Donna Rooney, Secretary, Jill Evans, treasurer Amanda Say and currently 1 other trustee, Ellen Griffiths, Additionally another trustee Alison Thomas will be registered this year. Charity Trustees are responsible for complying with legislation applicable to charities that includes the registration, keeping proper accounts, and making returns to the Charity Commission as appropriate. The Committee consists of, the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary together with The Committee meets every 4 times a year (including meetings conducted by email or Zoom), and additionally as required. The charity trustees shall manage the affairs of the CIO and may for that purpose exercise all the powers of the CIO.

Review

Permission from the National Office was given in July 2021 to restart after completing the necessary risk assessments, The trustees have meeting via Zoom and email to discuss the ongoing restrictions and the implications for the group and the first training session was held in August 2021 and we have continued to provide training sessions throughout the year as the weather has been kind to us and after a slow start have had a regular riders attending the training session at Coleg Sir Gar and are getting enquiries from new a new riders which is very encouraging. United Counties Group once again hosted the Regional Qualifier at Coleg Sir Gar and were very pleased to have several riders competing for the first time. Three of riders associated with the group qualified for the National Championships at Hartpury, where they competed in dressage and Show Jumping.

Both of our coaches, Amanda Say and Donna Rooney have attended the Emergency First Aid at Work Course

We now have a closer link with British Dressage Activities as the new Para Rep for Wales, is our chairman and Group Coach Donna Rooney

Policies

Considerable time has been taken to formalise the groups policies and guidelines, with reference to its Reserves Policy, Internal Financial Controls and Risk Management. These documents will assist in ensuring that United Counties RDA Training Group complies with these rules regarding governance and finance. The policies have been written according to the rules and guidelines set by the Charity Commission and the CIO Constitution.

The Groups Policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable activities of the District, by holding 1 years running costs, including those directly related to Covid-19 and a contingent sum to hire alternative premises and cover expenses should the current venue become unavailable and loss of income due to Covid-19

The group has a system of internal controls in place that are designed to provide reasonable assurance against mismanagement or loss. These include requiring two signatories to authorise all payments and comprehensive insurance policies to ensure that insurable risks are covered.

Financial Review

The Group’s Income this year was sourced from membership and training fees of £140 and the costs being expenses incurred from training, Insurance and membership, £609. A deficit of £469 This was due to a slow restart after the Covid 19 pandemic and fewer participants at each training session.

The Group’s net current assets at the year-end amounted to £3179
