Objectives and Activities

The objects for which the CIO is established are to promote the objects of the Riding for the Disabled Association incorporating Carriage Driving a charity registered under charity number 244108 ("RDA") by providing disabled people with the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and well- being in the Carmarthenshire and wider area.

Structure, Governance and Management

The Group is managed by the Charity Trustees, which comprise of a chairman, secretary, treasurer and currently 1 other trustee, Ellen Griffiths. Charity Trustees are responsible for complying with legislation applicable to charities that includes the registration, keeping proper accounts, and making returns to the Charity Commission as appropriate. The Committee consists of, the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary together with The Committee meets every 4 times a year (including meetings conducted by email or Zoom), and additionally as required. The charity trustees shall manage the affairs of the CIO and may for that purpose exercise all the powers of the CIO.

Review

Unfortunately due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we were unable to provide any face to face training in the period 1st April 2020 to 31st March 2021. The trustees have met via Zoom and email to discuss the ongoing restrictions and the implications for the group. The AGM for the financial period 2020/21 was held virtually using Zoom.

Policies

Considerable time has been taken to formalise the groups policies and guidelines, with reference to its Reserves Policy, Internal Financial Controls and Risk Management. These documents will assist in ensuring that United Counties RDA Training Group complies with these rules regarding governance and finance. The policies have been written according to the rules and guidelines set by the Charity Commission and the CIO Constitution.

The Groups Policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable activities of the District, by holding 1 years running costs, including those directly related to Covid-19 and a contingent sum

to hire alternative premises and cover expenses should the current venue become unavailable and loss of income due to Covid-19

The group has a system of internal controls in place that are designed to provide reasonable assurance against mismanagement or loss. These include requiring two signatories to authorise all payments and comprehensive insurance policies to ensure that insurable risks are covered.

Financial Review

The Group’s Income this year was sourced from a donation of £168.00 and the only cost being Insurance and membership, £390.00. A deficit of £220.00

The Group’s net current assets at the year-end amounted to £3,647.93
