## Hamsey Church Trust – Annual Report for 2022 1. We are sad to have to report the death of Harriet Lear on the 4[th] June 2023. She was an enthusiastic benefactor of Hamsey Church. Her parents, Horace and Audrey Debenham are buried in the churchyard. Andrew Featherstone and I are the surviving trustees. We will consider appointing another trustee in time. 2. The purposes of the Trust remain as follows: _To advance the Christian religion by providing and assisting in the conservation, repair, maintenance, improvement, upkeep and beautification of St Peter’s Church, Hamsey, Sussex and of its monuments, fittings, fixtures, furniture and surrounds._ 3. This (2022) has been the sixth year of the Trust’s existence. Funds held are intended as a permanent endowment (but with discretion to use the capital). We are not anticipating any more capital receipts. No payments were made this year. 4. We earned no bank interest during the year.] 5. We have maintained our investments in two COIF (Charities Official Investment Fund) funds managed by CCLA (Churches, Charities and Local Authorities) Investment Management Limited. We have continued to keep a proportion in hand having regard to possible needs. At the year end, cash at bank amounted to £9,768.75 and the value of the invested fund was £155,270 (down from £170,884). Thus the total asset value was £165,039. 6. Although we have not reviewed our internal financial controls this year, we do not think any modification is needed. 7. The trustees are conscious of, and have regard to, the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit and we are satisfied that the trust complies with the guidance.
