Hamsey Church Trust – Annual Report 2021 

1. The purposes of the Trust remain as follows: _To advance the Christian religion by providing and assisting in the conservation, repair, maintenance, improvement, upkeep and beautification of St Peter’s Church, Hamsey, Sussex and of its monuments, fittings, fixtures, furniture and surrounds_ 

2. This (2021) has been the fifth year of the Trust’s existence. Funds held are intended as a permanent endowment (but with discretion to use the capital). We are not anticipating any more capital receipts. 

3. We earned £106 in bank interest during the year. 

4. As foreshadowed in last year’s annual report, during the year we made our first grant for the benefit of St Peter’s Church, Hamsey of £28,000. We have maintained our investments in two COIF (Charities Official Investment Fund) funds managed by CCLA (Churches, Charities and Local Authorities) Investment Management Limited. We have continued to keep a proportion in hand having regard to possible needs. At the year end, cash at bank amounted to £22,225 and the value of the invested fund was £158,428 (up from £134,373). 

5. Although we have not reviewed our internal financial controls this year, we do keep them under review and do not think any modification is needed. 

6. The trustees are conscious of, and have regard to, the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit and we are satisfied that the grant referred to above complies with the guidance.
