## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|This was the 4th Games. The precautions
taken by the Trust to field the Games
meant 50 schools were not only confident
but enthusiastic to participate.
The Games showcased how incredible and
resilient the young people of Ashford and
the wider Kent area can be. It made young
people focus on the assets they do have
and not those they don’t, revealing to them
their true inner strengths, giving them a
sense of accomplishment, pride for both
themselves and others, discipline and
respectfulness. Teamwork and leadership
is another important aspect the Games
drew out of all those that took part.
Feedback confirmed the Games to be a
success with achieving its objectives and
those young people that attended said how
much they enjoyed the challenges
presented to them by the Games. Some
reports state those attending display a
more can do attitude than before.|

Representing their school was something those that attended never dreamed of ever coming their way, but here they were doing just that, and again it gave them immense pride to have the once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their school. The Games were attended by representatives of the Lord Lieutenancy of Kent together with the Chairman of the British Olympic Association, the Chairman of Kent County Council and organisations that gave generous donations towards fielding the Games. All commented on the value of the Games, saying they could clearly see this in the children’s faces and by their enthusiasm. As part of the Games Ashford Borough Council and Kent County Council renewed their armed forces covenant through signing a renewal pledge in the presence of representatives from the young people attending. The Games has a close association with the military, and the Princess of Wales’s Regiment (The Tigers) together with Challenger Troop CIC, helped to plan and execute the activities.
