## **ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS OF DODDINGHURST ROAD CHURCH 1st April 2022- 31[st] March 2023**

## **Aims and Objec�ves:** 

**1. The advancement of the Chris�an faith in accordance with our Basis of Faith, primarily but not exclusively within Brentwood and the surrounding neighbourhood.** 

**2. Such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the members of the church in General Mee�ngs and the Trustees, put into prac�ce the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ in accordance with our Basis of Faith.** 

**3. Provided that the advancement of such purposes must be undertaken in a manner that is consistent with the doctrinal dis�nc�ves and ethical statements as may be adopted and amended by the church from �me to �me in accordance with the provisions of the church rules.** 

**The Doddinghurst Road Trust operates under the guidance of its Cons�tu�on and Church Handbook issued in 2017 and as amended from �me to �me.** 

## **Church Ac�vi�es in 2022-23** 

**1. The church con�nues to hear from God’s word and praise the name of Jesus every Sunday Service incorpora�ng a growing Sunday School and Creche ministries. This includes, �mes of personal and church wide prayer and fellowship, open to all.** 

**2. The church has begun to include ‘Messy Church’ an interac�ve ac�vity based all age style of Church service. This has been successful and seeking to grow the team.** 

**3. To�s Aloud con�nues to grow, and has required a booking system to keep numbers manageable. It is a safe haven for many parents.** 

**4. A ‘Wednesday Menu’ mee�ng every Wednesday various from week to week that includes a film that is discussed, a Bible Study concentrated on the teaching and parables of Jesus, a �me of intercessional prayer and a worship evening. On months with five Wednesday a fellowship meal is also included. These came out of the online prayer mee�ngs at the end of 2022.** 



**5. We con�nue to run Brentwood Foodbank as a church project, this need has escalated and 2023 is predicted to have the doubled the total number of parcel from 2022. A partnership with Brentwood Bap�st church has seen an addi�onal day open for clients – Brentwood Bap�st serve approximately 10% of parcels.** 

**6. In the last quarter of 2022 Foodbank distribu�on combined to become a registered community hub. That is a safe place for people to stay warm and seek community.** 

**7. A weekly youth drop in, open to all con�nues to welcome and care for** 

**8. combining detached, in school and drop in. This has been very successful and well regarded by local schools and partnerships.** 

**9. MenShed con�nues to be a suppor�ve of many re�red gentlemen and has a�racted many new faces.** 

**10. reliant on hall hirers than previous years and have u�lized more grants. Our old energy contracts have ended, the new contract is approximately four �mes higher.** 

**11. Foodbank’s designated funds are secure with many donors and fundraiser suppor�ng this project.** 

**12. The Church Council con�nues to meet online monthly. Whilst the Trustees meet on a regular basis in person.** 

**All the above are in line with our aims and objec�ves.** 

## **Met goals.** 

## **Goals set in the previous report of 21-22 are as follows.** 

**1. We recognise the need for outreach in our youth work and to develop and encourage children’s outreach. Funds will be made available for this and for the full�me worker in this field. Aaron Wa�s, who fulfils this func�on, will be appointed as a Deacon.** 

_**This outreach has been well implemented and supported by volunteers from outside the church community. Many schools and council agencies speak favourably of the community needs met through this work.**_ 

**2. There are ongoing discussions with regard to Foodbank and our increased involvement.** 



_**More formalised roles and structures have been brought into foodbank with a designated steering group formed to handle the day to day running of this church project. The team has kept up with the dras�c increase in need.**_

**3. To be�er equip, develop and delegate roles within the various ministries of Doddinghurst Road Community Church.**

Final Remarks
As stated. the above records are a guKle to the actual in¢om8lexpenditure of the thurth.
A full set of all the financial reports was made available to our audrtor and a full 'lnfomation
Pack, is soon to be available to members by request.
The leadership team have continued to work under the budget headings, artd this helps us to
have a greater insight as to areas of overlunder spend in advance of the srtuation and plan
ahead.
As a Registered Chantywe can an Inskwbon by tsir staff as and when. From previous
experienc8 this could bè a surprise visil during the early years of operation.
Key issues during the year were".
1. Collections and Gifts {Offerings) were comparable to W8vious year but the donations
that were gift aided YRre lower.
2. Overall expenditure remained broadly similar to previous year although a freeze on
non4ssential expenditure remained in place.
3. Salary expenses for the Associate Pastor w8r8 mainly paid for by drawirvJ down from
the Maintenance Account grants receNed in the previous financial year.
4. A budget has been set for forthcoming year based on a similar income as 2022r23.
5. Integrats'ng Foodbank's finan￿S into the Church's accounts.
6. Employment of a Project Coordinator for Foodbank using grant recerved from the
Trussell Trust.

2023. The accounts have been kept on a Cash Accounting Basbs only. No records are made
for Prepayments or Accruals. In my opinion. the accounts accurately reflect the Church'$
affairs at that date.
